June 25, 20213 yr Pleasantly surprised that Knew Better / Forever Boy finished this high. It’s been the biggest grower for me since the album was released. The transition is so smooth. Forever Boy is one of my favourite moments on the album.
June 25, 20213 yr 6. BE ALRIGHT AVERAGE SCORE: 8.63 eBAHqRnSgRw INTO YOU: ...ready for it, Nina West, Cremey, Jade (10), JosephStyles, HausofArgento (9.5) BAD DECISIONS: dannjohn (4), jsweetxe, Goerge.keh (7) With a strong score and only narrowly missing out of a Top 5 placement is what served as the first "promo single" from the album. Before release there were a lot of rumours circling that the track would include a 'Nicki Minaj' feature, which was of course later proven to be for 'Side to Side'. 'Be Alright' has a 90s influence and was our first flavour of 'Deep House' Ari but remained true to her sound with it's R&B flare. Despite never receiving a full single release, it still managed to get to #3 on US iTunes and has since gone on to shift over 1 million copies in the US and a further 200,000 in the UK, receiving it's Silver certification back in Spring 2018. Personally I would have liked to see an arty and vogue-esque style video for the track and think it would have performed well (and certainly much better than Everyday). Another few bits of other trivia; - It was also originally intended to be the opening track of the original 'Moonlight', it was however used as the opening number of the 'Dangerous Woman Tour'. - In 2017 Ari was quoted saying that it was her favourite track she had released up until that point of her career. - After plagiarism accusations, the writing credits for the track were amended in late 2016. No 11s but the track collected a healthy four 10s, two 9.5s and five 9s with a few 7s and 8s scattered in there. The only score that really sticks out was the 4 from 'dannjohn', who ranked it as their least favourite from the album. :o So what are your predictions for top 5 people? Edited June 25, 20213 yr by Dangerous Julian
June 25, 20213 yr Our Top 5 (In alphabetical order) is: Dangerous Woman Greedy Into You Thinking About You Touch It
June 25, 20213 yr Author I think I gave 'Be Alright' a 10 as well, adore it  one of my go-to songs for a mood boost. The carefree choreography is a perfect match too!
June 25, 20213 yr I think I gave 'Be Alright' a 10 as well, adore it  one of my go-to songs for a mood boost. The carefree choreography is a perfect match too! Oops so you did! My bad! Edited! On first impression I thought the top 5 would be: 1. Into You 2. Greedy 3. Touch It 4. Dangerous Woman 5. Thinking Bout You (Well too be honest I thought 'Be Alright' would have just pipped this one.)
June 25, 20213 yr 'Knew Better / Forever Boy' is a weird one for me because I remember on my first listen I really loved the first half and was lukewarm on the second half... but upon relistening I liked 'Knew Better' less and 'Forever Boy' more  averaging out to still liking it as an overall song around the same as I did the first time I heard it. 'Be Alright' is a tune, shame it's not quite in the top 5 here.
June 25, 20213 yr Be Alright is a fun uplifting bop, we need more of those! What a top 5 though :cheeseblock:
June 26, 20213 yr 5. DANGEROUS WOMAN AVERAGE SCORE: 8.83 9WbCfHutDSE INTO YOU: 152chris (11), Tafty, Slick, …ready for it?, JosephStyles, Nina West, LewisGT, dannjohn (10) BAD DECISIONS: Bré (5), George.keh, Nick F1, gog_lad84 (7) Kickstarting the top 5 is Dangerous Woman’s title-track, a brilliant slice of pop with rockier elements produced by Max Martin, Ross Golan and, Johan Carlsson from Swedish-American rock band Carolina Liar. Another member of the band, Peter Carlsson, had also played a part in producing Love Me Harder from Ari’s previous album and this does feel like it sonically evolves from that song. Focus was released with the intention of being the lead-single from Ariana’s third album but that all changed when she decided to release this. Dangerous Woman became the lead of an album of the same name and debuted top 10 in America and peaked at #17 in the U.K. As much as I love Focus, I’m glad the changed took place as it led to such a mature and consistent album with absolutely no skips and I think helped legitimise Ariana in a way of which an album with Focus’s sound wouldn’t have been able. The first video to be released for this song was the acapella version with Ari wearing the iconic Dangerous Woman latex bunny mask and outfit and providing breath-taking vocals that captivate despite the lack of any other production. Ariana then promised us two more videos because she wanted to portray the two distinct emotions that the song brings out in her. We got the first on 31st March 2016, a sultry video with Ariana posing in lingerie with blue, pink and purple hues covering the screen which suitably captures the sexiness of the song. The second video was eventually scrapped due to time constraints with Ariana later giving us a slight taste of what might have been on Twitter saying “I like peeled my skin off my face and the dw mask was underneath. It was ambitious for the time allotted to work on it lol. and also insane" With an average of 8.83, Dangerous Woman has a nice increase from the 8.02 it managed in last year’s singles rate with 152chris even giving it a converted 11. We’re in the part of the countdown where the songs don’t receive any poor scores with the notable exception being Bré’s 5. It’s second lowest score was three 7s and with seven 10’s this has more than earned its top 5 placing. It does mean that everything still to come has an average of above 9!
June 26, 20213 yr Author I adore the acapella performance that you mentioned so much, what a vocal powerhouse  only one of the top 4 being a single is testament to the strength of the entire album!
June 27, 20213 yr Author 4. GREEDY AVERAGE SCORE: 9.17 3SFGpMqxWhM INTO YOU: Dangerous Julian, Slick, Jade (11), Tawdry Hepburn, Tafty, Lunar, JosephStyles, Nina West, coi (10) BAD DECISIONS: ...ready for it?, dannjohn (7), Bré (7.5) Surprised? 'Greedy' is often heralded as the ultimate popular Ari album track but it fails to make the top 3 here. Perhaps it's slightly dented by 'overrated' feelings. Well, a 9.17 average is still incredible for for fourth place anyway, plus it didn't score anything lower than a 7 so it's very much enjoyed across the board. 'Greedy' is track 7 on the album and kicks the tempo up a notch following the more chilled 'Let Me Love You'. It's suggestive and laden with double entendre as Ari can no longer hide her lustful feelings, after playing it cool for a while. She's greedy for love and wants this guy now. Greed can often be associated with money (I guess that's why we got 'Greedy' dollars on tour!) but in this case she reminds us that she's "physically obsessed" which tells us all we needed to know. The lyrics are backed by very funky production that wouldn't sound too out of place on a Bruno Mars record. The instrumental is so rich with synths, bass, horns, saxophone... a big wall of sound to give this banger all the oomph and class it needs. That's all before we get to THAT key change as well. I think that is the moment that truly sends this song stratospheric. Westlife would be jealous! Ari sounds great as ever - particularly right at the beginning with the layered vocals, the elongated note that leads us into the chorus and the adlibs once the key change kicks in. It's a perfect pick-me-up for a euphoric rush. 2/3 of your Ariana mods picked this as their favourite song (myself and Julian) while Slick also rated it that high. Taste! ...ready for it? and dannjohn were the least keen but still as high as a 7.
June 27, 20213 yr Be Alright and the title track are both incredible. I find Greedy a tad overrated but it's still a bop whenever I hear it :music:
June 27, 20213 yr Greedy is such a bop - my second favourite on the album. Thought it would end up 2nd!
June 27, 20213 yr 'Greedy' is one that I enjoyed a fair bit more on this listenthrough than when I first listened to the album, still not a huge highlight for me but better than I originally gave it credit. I can see why it's a fan fave.
June 27, 20213 yr I can't believe how STUPID they were to pass over that as a single, what a barnstormer. That key change is everything.
June 30, 20213 yr 3. THINKING BOUT YOU AVERAGE SCORE: 9.24 RFm4n7xrYxU INTO YOU: HausofArgento (11), Tawdry Hepburn, jsweetxe, kath, blacksquare, Tafty, JackTheeStallion, JosephStyles, 152chris, Jade, Nina West, Cremey, dannjohn (10) BAD DECISIONS: Slick, ...ready for it? (7), Bré (7.5) Cracking on into the top 3! Apologies for the delay... I went on strike because 'Greedy' went too soon and decided to go on a little staycation to cure my stress. Taking Bronze position is this gorgeous underdog, which despite only collecting one full 11 points from 'HausofArgento', also collected a crazily impressive amount of 10 points from twelve different voters. Similarly to our last out it collected only three scores below 8. 'Thinking Bout You' serves as the most perfect closing track on both the original track list and on the 'Deluxe' version. It's highlights include a dreamy Pop beat behind emotional lyrics, a soaring Pre-Chorus and fantastic vocal moments throughout. It proved a fan favourite from the very start with many wishing for it to be a single (Personally I think it would have rounded off the era beautifully), in fact it came 4th in the 2019 "Should Have Been Single" vote losing out only to 'Greedy', 'bad idea' and 'bloodline'. Should it have served as such, I can imagine it having a music video similar to 'breathin'. This means our top 2 is 'Into You' vs 'Touch It'.
June 30, 20213 yr Author I'm so impressed by how well 'Thinking Bout You' has done! What a masterpiece tbh.
June 30, 20213 yr I would have predicted 5th or 6th for it so I'm really impressed with how it's done and it is rather stunning. Had it have been on any other of her albums it would have easily gotten a 10 or my 11.
