I think I actually largely agree with this, but I wouldn't have Judas in there. It should have remained a killer album track. Ending on Heavy Metal Lover would've been sensational and I definitely agree with the first three singles chosen in that order!

If I were Troy Carter in 2011, this would be the schedule of the era:

September 2010

Born This Way (1st single - released on VMA)

VMA opening performance

EMA performance

AMA performance

KIIS-FM Jingle Ball performance

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

• November 2010

1st promo single: Judas

2nd promo single: Bad Kids

★ Album release

• January 2011

The Edge Of Glory (2nd single - released on GRAMMYs)

Grammy Awards opening performance

Brit Awards performance

Juno Awards performance

• April 2011

Hair (3rd single)

Teen Choice Awards performance

ACM Awards

Billboard Music Awards performance

• Jun 2011

Marry The Night (4th single)

MuchMusic Awards performance

MTV Movie Awards performance

• August 2011

You & I (5th single)

VMA performance

CMA performance

• November 2011

Fashion Of His Love (6th and last single - released on EMA)

EMA performance

AMA performance

People's Choice Awards performance

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

(and that's excluding several appearances on X Factor US, UK & Aus, American Idol, GMA, Today Show, Graham, SNL throughout the year...)

With this schedule, she would put each of these songs at the top of the main charts on the planet, breaking Michael Jackson's record.

Edge of Glory should have been 1st, BTW second, ScheiBe third, then Hair, and finishboff with You and I, done.

The record is now Katy Perry's btw ;)

And no, she tied the MJ record, as Part Of Me belongs to a reissue, as stated by Billboard.

She still has the Guiness Record. It is still the same album.

And yes. People wanted a different sound. She was promising a whole new type of pop music, a revolution, and the greatest album of the generation. She came back with a dance pop song that we had all heard before ... years before ... from Madonna. Second is being generous. Honestly, I can see a reason to have it third, as it sounds so derivative of Madonna. EoG and ScheiBe as thr first singles makes a statement, and they sound like nothin else out there. BTW third - it's not the greatest album, so it's not like we're spoiled for choice - then go for Hair (into the Steps-lite cheesy bit of the album from BTW on), maybe MTN, if it has far better instrumentation with rral instruments, and finish with a power stadium ballad, You and I, all done.

No, it's not the same thing, Billboard has made it clear that this single belongs to a reissue:

"Part," the lead single from Perry's "Teenage Dream" deluxe edition, "The Complete Confection" (due March 27), blasts in atop the Hot 100

Gaga never promised anything, and when she referred to the "album of the millennium", she was talking about ARTPOP, and clearly ironically in response to media pressure on her for an album even bigger than Born This Way. Also, stop these crude comparisons from a decade ago, everyone should have gotten over it, Born This Way doesn't sound like any Madonna song, the proof is that Madonna didn't dare sue Gaga because she knew she would lose the battle in court. It's also worth remembering that Madonna has no morals to sue anyone as she has already lost lawsuits for plagiarism.

Express Yourself was trending hours after BTW debuted. Everyone was saying the dsme thing. You need to revise your GaGa history. She said BTW was going to be the album of the decade or millennium, one of the two, and then she ssid so about Artpop too. It was cringe.

She promised VASTLY different music, a new pop. Look up what she was personally promising with BTW, only ro then come out with an Express Yourself clone... Madonna literally thought it was a new cover song when she heard it on the radio, they were that similar!!

Thr record stands. Katy Perry has ir. Billboard has her as the record holder, as does Guiness.

Well personally, I beg to differ. But it doesn't bother me, but I heard it straight away and still hear it now.

Born This Way definitely was inspired by Express Yourself imo, in terms of sound and content. The latter was a female empowerment song at a time when there weren't many around, Gaga took those themes and created a version for the 2010s for the LGBTQ+ community. There's no shame in it, they're both great tracks.

Beat it girl, we're not in 2011

She shares the record with Michael, she doesn't own it alone.

Well I don't agree, the only Gaga song that reminds me of Madonna is Babylon, which is similar to Rescue Me (and not Like A Prayer, as Madonna fans say out there).
