I am loving the album as well, I'm so impressed! I started listing highlights and gave up because it rarely faltered. I will say that I was particularly stunned by the lyrics and production for 'You asked for this', though.

This is so so good whew 😍

You asked for this, honey, IANAWIAG and the lighthouse are my immediate standouts but there’s about 5 others I already absolutely adore whew, this era loving up to my expectations *.*

Yep this is easily one of my fave albums of the year, the amount of songs I still have on repeat :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock:

The way they’re gonna get blocked from a US #1 AGAIN by a rapper surprise dropping an album

I'm really enjoying this - the production is gothic and haunting. You can definitely hear the NIN influence throughout the entire album. In the age of Spotify playlisting, so many of the tracks don't have that immediate hook. I've only listened to the album all the way through twice, so I feel like I need to dedicate it more time as I keep coming back to the more listenable tracks such as 'Honey', 'Easier Than Lying' and the single being pushed.

The album really switches between weird Silent Hill horror vibes, to punk grunge, folk and a bit of soft rock thrown in there.

And how beautiful is Ya'aburnee - I feel like this is the song that could fit on Maniac the most. Very clear that this song is deeply personal, but it is expertly written and produced.

This is the first album I've listened to from Halsey, ever.

Quite impressive, probably in my top 10 albums so far this year. Easier Than Lying, Girl Is A Gun, You Asked For This, Honey, I am not a woman, I'm a God are all highlights but I love The Lighthouse!!

Taken me a couple of listens to establish my faves from this but I think I'm settling on 'Bells In Santa Fe' and '1121' being the best on here (the latter wasn't even a major highlight on first listen but it's clicked so much more after a couple more listens) - think they are really nailing the dark, cinematic sound that I was expecting / hoping for from the concept of a Halsey album produced by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross. That said I do like that this album is surprisingly diverse and I am enjoying most of the other songs as well, 'Girl Is A Gun' feels like a bit of an outlier in how upbeat it is but it is a banger (it was actually my favourite on first listen but others have grown more), also really liked 'Whispers' and 'The Tradition', then 'You asked for this' and 'honey' are both really solid more standard pop-rock type tracks (the latter has also been a big grower). I can see why 'I am not a woman, I'm a god' was the single and it's grown on me a bit as well but I still think it's actually among the weaker songs on the album tbh. I feel like 'Girl Is A Gun' might have been a better single choice although tbf I'm not sure I could see any of the songs on this album having been a big hit, it doesn't seem like that was really what she was going for from this era.

I think the only song I didn't really enjoy at all was 'Darling'. So yeah, glad that I gave this a chance after not being immediately enthused by the single choice. Credit to Jade as I doubt I'd have bothered if not for how much she enjoyed it :kink:

The 'extended' version is out today! The reprise of 'Nightmare' is essentially a remix by Nine Inch Nails which fits it sonically in better with the rest of the album, sounds very good!

New tracks:

14. Nightmare

15. Nightmare - Reprise

16. People Disappear Here

Apparently 'People disappear here' was already out there on some versions of the physical release (the Japanese version and exclusive Target/HMV versions) so just a belated digital release.

It's a good addition to the album anyway so glad it's seen a wider release eventually!

It's nice to see Nightmare included at least, one of her best tracks of all time.
