September 29, 20213 yr Author Sherriff winning at Real Madrid is an absolute mad result! Yeh one of the big shocks even if it was t a knockout, Dundalk put them out in last years qualifiers, it’s worth reading up about the team - some dodgy background to the club and region in general, it’s not even a real country they are from!!
September 29, 20213 yr Villareal got what they deserved. I know Ronaldo scored, but he hurts this Man Utd team so much, they are absolutely awful under Ole. Look so vulnerable on the counter attack and through the middle. Barcelona getting beaten by Benfica isn't a massive shock, but is there a genuine chance Barcelona don't qualify for the knockouts!? Madness!
September 29, 20213 yr Real Madrid too maybe?! Madrid will be fine, they will get enough points to go through. Can afford to drop points in at least 2 games. I think Barca will struggle to make the Europa League. Can't see them getting anymore than 6 points in the games remaining.
September 29, 20213 yr There's been quite a few shocks so far in the group stage which is good overall for the competition though at the same time it's not often that a team particularly stands out as a likely winner of the tournament this early into the group stage. I didn't even know that Federico Chiesa was playing for Juventus, he made the difference against Chelsea tonight, he's going to be a world class footballer I think within the next few years. Ronaldo saved us in the end against Villarreal, we were poor for large parts of the game and looked vulnerable in defence many times. Danjuma was causing lots of problems in particular. It was a brilliant goal from Alex Telles to get us level and this win could make the difference by the end of the group stage. We would have been bottom of the group if it had ended in a draw.
September 29, 20213 yr Author I forgot Danjuma left Bournemouth for Villarreal in the summer, great player!

There are some good results, but with the format there's rarely ever any danger. Take the PSG result against City - City could lose the home leg and they'd still qualify. The groups were changed to try and break up the bigger teams and have more exciting group games, but it rarely ever feels like there is as much jepordy as there should be. Chelsea losing it was a big one and the stuff I'm reading tonight about Ronaldo is just laughable, Savage was bad eniugh on comms and the BBC have gone to town now. I genuinely think if Ole took him off 20 minutes earlier, Utd would have scored way before the 95th min. He is a massive problem with that team and the rest of the side isn't good enough to win on star power alone like Zidane's Madrid side did a couple of times.
September 30, 20213 yr De Gea in the first half, then Ronaldo at the end rescued us last night. 1 point from two games would have put us in a very precarious position.

Nah had we took Ronaldo we wouldn't have scored. We did that against Young Boys and look what happened! He's an essential 90 minute man as he's the only one who you'd bank on scoring late winners.
October 20, 20213 yr It's always good to win a match especially when you come from behind to do it but our performance against Atalanta in the 1st half was one of the worst I've ever seen from Man United and it dampens the excitement for me. We should have never got ourselves into the position of being 2-0 down at home and we just kept passing the ball backwards, we can't keep doing that to ourselves because we wont always be able to dig ourselves out of trouble. We were much better in the 2nd half but as I said we can't keep performing recklessly like this.

The problem is with the manager and just like PSG have discovered, playing with big names means you don't always dominate in the way you should in theory. Man Utd played well in the 2nd half and they deserved the 3 points on that showing, but Atalanta were missing a good chunk of their team and their best player went off injured at half time. Great goal from Ronaldo, but he is like a statue all game. I'm personally happy as this United side is never winning anything of note under Ole, and at half time I was genuinely fearful he could be sacked before Sunday! Like I've said before, there is a pattern of terrible performances and a lack of coaching.
October 20, 20213 yr Author Atalanta also play a game similar to a team like Leeds where they play a risk based game which is perfect for United to take advantage of!

I'm thinking the problem is with the manager as well, he can't seem to find the right balance with the team selections. I didn't see anything from the matches over the past weekend but when I looked at the line up for the match against Leicester and saw that it was different to the one that played against Everton and we still ended up losing in the way that we did that really made me realise that Ole is probably not the right person to manage us going forward. Whatever happens though with Ole I will always think fondly of him for all that he did as a player for United. I've seen some fans calling him a fraud and even downplaying the impact he made as a player and I think it's harsh to say those things tbh.

It's 100% the manager, he can't coach and his tactics are stuck in the year 2000. Just having all the best attacking players doesn't work anymore. With so many football statistics etc. you can get a good picture, Man Utd love to shoot and have lots of shots but the quality of the shots is low. This is because most of their chances are carved out from indivudal play rather than attacking patterns. Ole is just not a good enough manager, is he going to be 90 points? I'd say it's highly unlikely. That's what you need to challenge for the title at the moment. The team are great on the counter attack, but when they are tasked with posession and control they are useless. Ronaldo doesn't help at all, but he will score goals. Still think he is a hinderance rather than a help however. A good manager gets way more out of this team imo. The problem with signing all these top names is you can't fit a functional team together with them. Pogba can't play in a double pivot, but he can play on the left of the attacking four. But that means two of Rashford/Sancho/Greenwood are on the bench. Just some bizzarre planning all round. Sancho was the answer to all the problems last year, but he can't even get in the side. No goals and no assists for £80m is absolutely shocking.
October 21, 20213 yr Author Sancho will come good but it will be under a different manager for me. He’s only arrived remember. Also think United could beat Liverpool at the weekend as with all those players the £ has been thrown at they still have the individual brilliance to blow any team away on a given day. Also Ole will have what Carragher said up on the changing room wall for motivation lol.

Also Ole will have what Carragher said up on the changing room wall for motivation lol. United will just play on the counter attack on Sunday, 100% guaranteed. They key to that will be if Liverpool get an early goal or not to force United to come out and attack. I always hate games at Old Trafford though, we have such a poor record there.
October 21, 20213 yr Form completely goes out of the window for this fixture too which, in recent times, has almost always favoured us lol.
October 21, 20213 yr Sancho will come good but it will be under a different manager for me. He’s only arrived remember. I think he'll just be the next expensive flop after Di Maria, Falcao, Depay etc. Just doesn't suit the way we play like he did at Dortmund. He's our fourth choice winger in the batting order as it stands!
October 21, 20213 yr Author Yeh but I cant imagine another manager next season not forming the team around him in some way as hes only 21/22. I just think hes been sidelined as theres so many other choices there and as Rooney says, Ronaldo has to play!
