July 9, 20214 yr Maybe if England wins if will have some live after Sunday as I imagine everyone will go football crazy then (no idea how much change they have of winning?). I know right, definitely the most surprising comeback of the year. New Sugababes remixes, Atomic Kitten coming back, new Spice Girls song. We are being spoiled. Yes I never thought in 2021 that Atomic Kitten, Sugababes and Spice Girls would all have something new available for fans, all we need now is Girls Aloud. Edited July 9, 20214 yr by Feel_The_Fever
July 9, 20214 yr Kerry left Atomic Kitten (again) a few years ago :P Tash and Liz have been performing as a duo since then. (and to be fair, Jenny was part of the group for most of their success, much more than Kerry!) It was my understanding that Kerry has wanted to be involved with some things but they other two didn't let her. She had some rants about it.
July 9, 20214 yr I don't know if this is true but I heard from a 'friend' of Jenny's that she was never interested in doing 'tribute' performances, hence why she never joined the duo but obviously being a part of the Euros 2021 is a big gig, hence why she's involved.
July 9, 20214 yr I don’t know if I went in expecting this to be good but I was a little disappointed. Needless to say if .I was in .England now I’d be one of those people screaming it in a crowd. Haha.
July 9, 20214 yr Doesn't Jenny own a hotel in Ibiza now? I can't really see her coming back for a reunion tour unless there was a chance of it being arenas like Steps and not the retro gigs/holiday camp circuit. It's great that they look poised to get an unexpected hit here due to the Euros, but they weren't known for their tours and didn't exactly go out on top like Steps - they faded away and got gradually smaller, so I'm not sure how far they could go even with the Natasha/Liz/Jenny line-up, I doubt they'd sell out more than 3,000 capacity venues. I'd love to hear new music from them but I won't hold my breath!
July 9, 20214 yr I don't think they'd fill arenas unless they were a support act or teamed up with some other bands to co-headline.
July 9, 20214 yr i don't think anyone mentioned them doing gigs... i was just letting people know why Jenny was involved in this project but none of the AK gigs.
July 9, 20214 yr I'm not sure what to expect going forward. I can see why they've took advantage of Euros-fever by rush releasing this, but the fact it's been added to Hot Hits, the round of promo they've been doing and getting Jenny back on board makes me think they're planning to launch some sort of return off the back of it.

I really don't think they have any grand plan, just that they suddenly had some momentum for the first time in 15 years and decided to run with it. I guess I could see them re-releasing their greatest hits with this tacked on and maybe a new track or two (I know they did some demos with Kerry in 2013/2014, so I guess they could dust those off and have Jenny talk in the middle-8).
July 9, 20214 yr It just seems odd in particular that they’ve had such support from Spotify, surely some big Payola has been involved there? Then being on Heart and Capital. If they had just thrown the track together and that was that, I’d expect not much more, but it feels like a lot of effort has been put into this.
July 9, 20214 yr tbh atomic kitten didn't actually write this new version... i believe the football fans did
July 9, 20214 yr tbh atomic kitten didn't actually write this new version... i believe the football fans did Liz is credited as a writer on this version (according to Spotify), but she isn't on Whole Again. Jenny and Natasha aren't credited on both versions. It does seem strange to see this hype and Spotify support, at the same time, I cannot imagine a record label paying a huge sum of money to playlist them. I mean, do they even have a label at the moment?
July 9, 20214 yr True, their image was definitely an interesting concept but sadly it didn't seem to work commercially. I Want Your Love, See Ya and Right Now were all great pop songs that deserved far better chart runs and peaks - something didn't seem to click with the public. When it became clear that people loved Whole Again, regardless of whether Kerry had stayed or left, they would not have continued with that early image as the record company would have pushed them down the MOR path. I'm not sure how Kerry would have felt about that as I'm sure the fun and cheeky element of the band's early years came largely from her influence. Liz seems well suited to MOR and Natasha fits both well as she has a great personality but is also a strong singer on the ballads. The real mystery is how Follow Me flopped at No.20 a few months prior to Whole Again. If the public were into their MOR mid-tempos, why wasn't that one better appreciated, it's a great song with a strong singalong chorus. WHAT?! They're not even sonically similar  Whole Again sounds massive, and no matter who was singing it, it would have been a hit. Follow Me is cheesy pop!

I mean, do they even have a label at the moment? Bizarrely, it seems like this is being released by Columbia / Sony; originally they were on Innocent / Virgin, which are now a part of the Universal umbrella I believe. Their last release (Whole Again: The Best of) was also handled by Spectrum Music, a Universal label for compilations. Maybe Columbia / Sony approached them with doing this recording to try and quickly cash in and hope that it becomes a proper yearly football anthem. I just can't see there being a grand plan for an Atomic Kitten comeback.
