BJSC 134 – Crows In The Rain - Unfinished Dream Of Sadako – 12th

BJSC 133 - Fïx8:Sëd8 - Human Harvest – DNQ

Almost definitely winner of the song title game in recent contests, Terra Avium add another one with ‘Tonight The Streets Are Ours’, but will the streets truly be theirs?

Entrant History

Richard Hawley came 40th in BJSC 118 with ‘When She Finds You’, a collaboration track with Shakespears Sister, entered by Suedeonia. ‘Tonight The Streets Are Ours’ is from his 2007 album Lady’s Bridge.

Terra Avium will perform 25th in Semi-Final H.

BJSC 135 – JOWST and Agnete - Barely Breathing (feat. Azzip) – 36th

BJSC 134 – ASHWARYA - COMIN@ME - DNQ

BJSC 133 - Martin Jensen & Georgia Ku - 2019 – DNQ

Lookylion had been on a run of DNQs before coming back with ‘Barely Breathing’ last contest, which ‘barely’ scraped into the final – perhaps, I can’t remember the semi result don’t quote me I'm just making puns.

Babet is an old Lookylion entrant, in fact their first one, so they are trying to return to old glories, will they succeed?

HORSE ALERT: Special Week is the protagonist of the first season of Uma Musume, a throughbred of the late 90s who challenged and won several trophies throughout that period.

Entrant History

Babet is a Dutch singer. Her first entry in BJSC was for Lookylion with ‘Chameleon’, where she came 3rd.

Lookylion will perform 30th in Semi-Final H.

BJSC 135 – Rebecca Black – Personal – 38th

BJSC 134 – Jessi - What Type Of X - DNQ

BJSC 133 - Katy Rose - I Like – DNQ

Aesthetica made it back to the final last contest with Rebecca Black. How will DAGR and ‘f*** Knots’ do for them?

Entrant History

DAGR is an LA-based production duo who are appearing for the first time. Featured artist Uffie hasn’t been in BJSC for over 10 years, first entered on the Justice entry TThhEe PPaARRtTYY for B.a.N.G, DNQing, in BJSC 19 and also on ‘ADD SUV’ for Cadbury in BJSC 26.

Aesthetica will perform 16th in Semi-Final H.

BJSC 135 – Yellow Claw - DRXGS (feat. Sara Fajira) – 41st

BJSC 134 – shallow pools - "nothing new" - DNQ

BJSC 133 - Primo The Alien - Do It Again – 22nd

After a DNQ and coming last in the final, Mulgracia will be wanting to contend again with ‘Colorful’.

ZOMBIE ALERT: Lily Hoshikawa, Zombie Number 6, is the Legendary Child Actress Prodigy. She’s also one of the most prominent and notable trans characters in anime, to the point where – this actually happened – noted TERF MP Joanna Cherry once, in Parliament, held up a picture of Lily saying ‘FUCK TERFs’ as an ‘example’ of the ‘abuse’ that TERFs get online for... being bigots. Anyway. She’s a favourite and the sweetest character really.

Entrant History

SHAED, an American trio, have been entered twice before, once coming 12th for Altyr Muunilinst with ‘Running Through The Fields’ in BJSC 88, and once coming 5th for Ultraviolenceland in BJSC 111.

Mulgracia will perform 28th in Semi-Final H.

Oh there I am, that was a late reveal x

Let's go Team Horses I heard this in the film, Exit Through the Gift Shop, and it's stuck with me a bit, turns out it was also a vintage 2007 top 40 that must've been there in the rare weeks I didn't listen to the chart. It's a bit more Radio 2 than you may be used to for me, but hope some of you can get some joy out of it x I was quite surprised that I wasn't the only one sending a past top 40 hit this time!

Beautiful presentation and effort with the concept of course, hope you can get some sleep tonight

'Tonight The Streets Are Ours' is the 5th and final retro top 40 hit in this contest (and the only one that was within BuzzJack's existence). Terra Avium sending a random low top 40 hit from 2007 seems slightly out of character but I don't think I know the song so should reserve judgement until I hear it

Uffie had some bangers back in the day, unexpected name to pop up here in 2021 but I'm moderately hyped to hear what she's up to these days x also 'Chameleon' is still the best Lookylion entry, feels early for them to already be recycling their greatest hits artists (!) but we'll see if another song from her is as good as the first.

Alright, we're almost there but one little moment of suspense with the final semi assignments.

Returning Nations.

Sorry for leaving you until last, it was just easiest with the way I planned it.

There are 2 slots left in Semi Final H, 4 in Semi Final Z.

Here are the returnees:

Bhangra

Numayania

Pagasa

Republic Of Adonia

Vülkyria

Wholune

What have they brought?

BJSC 132 - Have A Nice Day! – Night Rainbow – DNQ

Skipping a contest, the first of our returnees had a few low-placing finalists but will be hoping to win back with the third ‘Em’ artist of this contest – EMMY’s Collection.

Entrant History

EMMY is a Norwegian singer who competed in this year’s Melodi Grand Prix. This is her first appearance in BJSC.

Numayania will perform 8th in Semi-Final Z.

BJSC 134 – Grimes - REALiTi (Demo) – 5th

BJSC 133 – Kilo Kish - NICE OUT - DNQ

BJSC 132 - Lexie Liu – ALGTR – DNQ

Republic Of Adonia got a 5th place with their anniversary entry but DNQs for other recent results, Magdalena Bay will be hoping to be more like REALiTi and less like the DNQ entries.

Entrant History

Magdalena Bay are a L.A. based pair. They have come 21st with ‘Only If You Want It’ for Trifoski in BJSC 115, and for Republic Of Adonia in BJSC 130 with ‘Sky2Fall’, they came 33rd. The music video pays homage at least in my mind to 'Ghost In The Shell', deciding that character assignment for me.

Republic Of Adonia will perform 7th in Semi-Final H.

Perennial entrants Pagasa last entered in BJSC 133, and haven’t qualified since BJSC 130. ‘sushi for breakfast’ didn’t deserve such slander.

ZOMBIE ALERT: Refined and courteous, Yuugiri is the legendary Courtesan of the Meiji period (19th century), and Zombie Number Five.

Samuel is the Italian frontman of Subsonica and has not appeared in BJSC before. Francesca Michielin has appeared in BJSC before, winning the BJSC 99 contest for Unovia with ‘Vulcano’. She also competed in Eurovision for Italy in 2016 with ‘No Degree Of Separation’.

Vülkyria will perform 3rd in Semi-Final H.

Oh no!! POPHub sent an entry I was planning to send next edition :o :o Phenomenal choice there! No One Else may grow on me so I think Lookylion is back in full force!

BJSC 131 – SCALPING – Deadlock - DNQ

Returning after a contest’s break, Wholune have entered sparsely this year, scoring a last place and a DNQ. They’ll be hoping to get a result more like the wonderful Majestica (still playing that album in the middle of summer x) back last December. Or even better.

Baby Dave is a new project by Isaac Holman, the frontman of Slaves. It is their first appearance in BJSC.

Okay, we're done. :D

Thanks for following along guys, I have the semi finals ready-ish so I'll just open the threads now and then I will be getting some sleep x

The Wholune entry has some intriguing pedigree behind it with the Slaves connection + production from Damon Albarn. Could potentially be a good one. x

Thanks for all your efforts with this thread Iz, has been a fun read, looking forward to listening to the songs

Well, it was either this or something from the 80's, and since my 80's adventure did not go so well in last month's spin-off contest, here we are! -_-
