July 17, 20213 yr How many more weeks would My Way have had if there had been a full Top 100 at the time?Probably quite a few more weeks. When the single was charting in 1969 to 1972 the chart was a top 50 (top 40 for 6 weeks in 1971). From 08/04/69 to 23/10/71 the record charted for 121 weeks out of a total of 134 weeks. I assume it would have just dropped below number 50 for those 13 weeks. It did return for 1 week at the start of 1972 after having been off the chart for a further 9 weeks. Perhaps at this point it may have stopped selling and would have drifted down and off the charts. Adding in the 22 weeks it was outside the top 50 in its original chart run would still leave the record in 4th place on the above list.
July 21, 20213 yr Plus ONE more week almost certainly in the Top 100 had it existed ahead of its initial chart entry in the 50 on the chart of week-ending Sat 5 Apr (why the OCC site is defaulting to the following Tuesday I don't know)! I've tracked 'My Way's release date to Fri 21 Mar '69, meaning its first couple of days on sale could've been sufficient for an appearance at 51st to 100th bestseller for the chart use week ending Sat 28 Mar (which the OCC now stupidly would date as Tue 1 Apr). Still doesn't alter its position in the overall list, but you know, just saying.
