Here’s 95’s second most popular chart topper and it got a whopping 14 voters to give it points- a new rate record. Also quite a big gap between this and No 20!

 

For me 2 Become 1 is absolutely the gem of the Spice Girls’ discography so I thought it might be even higher and I’m surprised Viva Forever is above it. They didn’t need any frills or attitude on that record because it was simply a marvellous pop song.

 

I remember well Coolio being on TOTP having entered straight at No 1. My hip teenage cousin was horrified that someone he actually rated had agreed to go on such a lame show. Luckily I never even tried to be cool. B-) I think Coolio and the Fugees did some of the first songs with rap in that I actually liked!

2 Become 1 and Viva Forever are my two favourites by Spice Girls too, great to see them top 20, they were so good at ballads considering it's not what they're best known for.

As someone who isn’t a fan of the Spice Girls I love ‘2 Become 1’ an absolute Xmas classic 25 years later!

 

Also Coolio and Gangstas Paradise is a classic number one if there ever was one, such a amazing production and rap, love that Simon Mayo was still presenting TOTP at the end of 1995! Looks so modern by that stage!

Funny that Coolio was doing the Kenan and Kel theme just a year later, I'm not sure he was the most gangsta of rappers. It's a great track though, a classic, and one of the few rap songs that is still on heavy rotation on Heart FM.

Amazing result for Gangsta's Paradise, it didn't make my votes but what a classic!

Breathe is Firestarter part 2, but not nearly as good, Maria is a great comeback, but not quite up to classic Blondie standard, Manics is brilliant, their best track amongst a batch of great Manic singles over the years. Spices is a goodie, much better than Viva Forever, and Coolio is pure classic, but co-credit to Stevie Wonder at least in part given he wrote the original Pastime Paradise, and LV for a great vocal.

Love 'Gangsta's Paradise' and especially 'Breathe' from those last couple of sections :wub: glad 'Viva Forever' is the highest Spice Girls song!

Viva Forever is definitely the best spice girls song ever so glad it’s higher than 2 become 1

Viva Forever is my least favourite Spice Girls song.

Viva Forever, 2 Become 1 and Say You’ll Be There are my Top 3 Spice Girl tracks.

I’m surprised the Manics got so high but glad for them, this just missed out on points from me. Had it been A Design For Life I would have definitely given it a lot.

 

Gangsta’s Paradise is an undisputed classic.

Your Woman is also surprisingly high. I really thought Firestarter would be the first Prodigy song to exit even though I think it's complete genius.
