I mean I didn't vote for it, but no way does Unchained Melody deserve to be down with some of these horrors!

The Millenium Prayer actually getting votes

My mind boggles how there is a Robson and Jerome track to come (and Mr Blobby, but I’m more on board with that )

NO 165- 6 POINTS

The Most Beautiful Girl In The World Prince (Voter: Garyfeld) #1 for 2 weeks in April 1994

UwB9Ap9.jpg

Prince’s only UK Chart topper attracts minimal interest with us.

If I let You Go Westlife (Voter: Last Dreamer) #1 for 1 week in August 1999

51QwBoC.jpg

Third Westlife track out of the rate- two left!

NO 164- 7 POINTS

Boom Boom Boom Outhere Brothers (Voter: Jason- 7 points) #1 for 4 weeks in July 1995

And following chronologically here are the Outhere Brothers- Combining obscenity with a dance beat- what’s not to like.

NO 162- 8 POINTS

Mr Blobby Mr Blobby (Voter: JackJones- 7 points, Jason- 1 point)- #1 for 3 weeks in December 1993

Our first No 1 to get votes from two voters! Also the first song to return to No 1 in a consecutive chart run in 24 years

The Real Thing Tony Di Bart (Voter: Jester) #1 for 1 week in May 1994

From bathroom salesman to the top of the charts and then back to obscurity.

Ahh! So pleased I saved Toni Di Bart from zero points. Such a great understated dance track.
Love ‘The Most Beautiful Girl’ by Prince one of his best for me and a number one finally so late into his career!
oh I liked that Toni di Bart song too

The horrors of Millennium Prayer, Robson & Jerome and A Different Beat. The fact that Prince's only UK chart topper is a mediocre nothing is one of the great chart anomalies.

The Real Thing by Tony DiBart is a great tune though!

Mr Blobby got more points than I was expecting tbh. :cheer:

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Bombalurina (Voter: Last Dreamer) #1 for 3 weeks in August/ September 1990

Produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber as a dare from his wife that he couldn’t produce a No 1 with a pop song. Yay him I guess.

Smile Song Victoria Wood (Voter: AH Gold) #1 for 1 week in March 1991

TzGTQ0x.jpg

It may have been a relative unknown as we went into this but Victoria picked up more points than Hale & Pace.

Ain't No Doubt Jimmy Nail (Voter: Mango- 2 points, Popchartfreak- 8 points) #1 for 3 weeks in July/August 1992

“She’s Lying”- ah the summer of 92

I Believe I Can Fly R Kelly (Voter: Hide&Seek) #1 for 3 weeks in April 1997

Rather tainted now by subsequent events but R Kelly still gets some points

Bootie Call All Saints (Voter: AaronTM) #1 for 1 week in September 1998

okv7Q40.jpg

Third exit for the girls- they only have 1 entry left in this!

Boom Boom Boom Outhere Brothers (Voter: Jason- 7 points, Dan::G- 2 points) #1 for 4 weeks in July 1995

an easy mistake to make, but I gave my 2 points to another boomy #1 :P

Oops, I'll correct tomorrow apologies

Glad the Smile Song is deservedly above Hale & Pace. I actually think Bootie Call is a bit underrated as well, not one of their all time best but a decent enough tune and a better #1 than their double A side of bad covers.

More horrors though with Robson & Jerome (again), Bombalurina and I Got Shot By The FBI. Leaving aside any 'personal matters' relating to R Kelly, I always drew a line between stuff like Ignition or Bump N Grind and turgid balladry like this. The fact that it kept Blur and Supergrass from #1 was criminal imo.

How the hell Robson and Jerome made number one for 7 weeks with that I’ll never know!
Boom Boom obscenity? It's almost a childish song in comparison to Cardi B's WAP. :D

I speak from an "at the time perspective". Radio played the alternative lyric version and I know my aunt wasn't impressed when she bought it for my then 7 year old cousin when she heard the real version lol
It wasn't as bad as the first single, I remember the original version of Don't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle) being really quite risqué for the era!
