I always thought Stay With Me wins Faye on lead vocal but I’m probably wrong. I had trouble telling her and Lisa apart a little bit when I was younger.

So Experienced totally deserves last place no questions! Too Weak to resist while being lyrically awful does at least have a good tune to it "time can be a heeeealer or time can diviiiiiide!" I do have a soft spot for it so would have put that above Steptro which is just a funky as hell intro.
It’s gets harder to pick the order from here but I.l go with the next two out being This Heart Will Love Again and Back To You.

I agree, Too Weak To Resist just have a good tune. The potential for a better song is their. Experienced on the other hand…

My prediction is it will be this:

8th - This heart will love again

7th - Back to you

6th - 5,6,7,8

4th - Heartbeat

3rd - Last thing on my mind

2nd - Love u more

1st - One for sorrow

Actually I’ll go against what I said a few posts above, my predicted top 8 with a ‘shock at #7.

8. This Heart Will Love Again

7. 5,6,7,8

6. Back To You

5. Heartbeat

4. Love You More

3. Last Thing On My Mind

2. Better Best Forgotten

1. One For Sorrow

Regardless of the positions, I know I will want Heartbeat to be higher 😍
Heartbeat is actually one of the few I return to, I didn't really get into Steps until the Buzz Era, but Heartbeat I am very fond of.
I'm not gonna comment on the results because I already know them but I hope you're ready to be shocked! Jay is trolling you and EXPERIENCED is actually the winner! 👏👏👏👏

Erm WHY do you know the results and not me!?!? Although I have a feeling they were shared somewhere with us both now, I've totally forgotten them though

8th - 5,6,7,8 - 6.35

Highest Score: 9 - Feel the Fever, Nina West, PAJ

Lowest Scores: 1 - JSG | 4 - Hide&Seek, ...readyforit

Steps' debut single lands in 5,6,7... 8th place! When you think about it, this has to be one of the oddest songs in Steps' discography, purely for being so unique. Techno pop with lyrics inspired by line dancing? Sure, why not! Despite low UK radio airplay, the single fared well in the charts - it debuted at #18, and eventually climbed to its peak of #14 in its 8th week on sale. Overall it spent 14 weeks in the Top 40 - highly unusual longevity for a non-Top 10 hit. Almost 25 years later and it's well remembered by the public - it is their most viewed music video on YouTube and their most streamed song on Spotify. Its success in the age of streaming even made it Steps' second single to certify Platinum in the UK. Notably the song was also hugely successful in Australia, where it peaked at #1! I feel like this is a very "love it or hate it" song for many. My stance... it's enjoyable for what it is, but I kind of view this as a novelty single that is kind of detached from what I went on to love about Steps as a pop group. Nevertheless it always lends itself to fun performances at their concerts!

7th - This Heart Will Love Again - 7.62

Highest Scores: 10 - Herbs, Hide&Seek | 9 - Nina West

Lowest Scores: 6 - ...ready for it | 6.5 - Pippa

I feel like 'This Heart Will Love Again' is the first song revealed in these results that has a sound which you would probably expect to hear on Steps' debut album, had you never listened to it before. It's a midtempo with bittersweet lyrics, one which the female members shine on - Claire and Lisa have the majority of vocals, while Faye sings a few lines of the first verse. Its rousing chorus has a positive sentiment - despite feeling heartbroken by a relationship ending, the overall message is about being resilient.

My predication was the wrong way around.

I still enjoy 5,6,7,8 for me it was what got my attention, the singes that followed reeled me in though,

I like 'This Heart Will Love Again', it was my favourite back in 1998, so 10 year old me would've given an 11/10. It's dropped a little in the last 20+ years though.

5,6,7,8 when I was growing up was played in Gym Class almost everyday. Even before I knew who Steps were as a band.

It's catchy. It's playful, but so overplayed for me in my childhood... I've never really gone back

5,6,7,8 has been consistently enjoyable for me since its release,I knew it wouldnt do hugely well in this but would have predicted 6th or 7th place.

Heartbeat was the fourth single to be taken from Step One (released as a Double A Side single with a cover of Tragedy by the Bee Gees, which isn't included on Step One). This wintery ballad was instantly successful, entering the UK singles chart at #2 in November 1998. I think it's clear that a high percentage of this single's overall success is thanks to Tragedy, but initially Heartbeat received higher airplay and better promo, so it was a popular song in its own right! I think it's one of their most memorable music videos too, with its "evil Ice Queen" storyline and rather bad green screen moments of them "riding" skis and snowmobiles. :kink: I find this song incredibly nostalgic, it takes me right back to winter/Christmas 1998.

Top 5 results starting some time tomorrow... any guesses about the order? How do you feel about Heartbeat missing out on the Top 5?
