Have all been discussed quite throughly and seem to be front runners at the minute. Any options between them?

 

I am quite keen to send a track from at least the 4 current spice girls (sorry Posh you snooze you lose) during this round and maybe end with a spice girls track. Or represent each solo girl and do no group track this time round. We get to send an option every time so why not use that to do so without fear of going out? What are other people’s thoughts on this?

That's exactly what we decided to do Vibe, after lots (and I mean LOTS) of toing and froing we decided to send Touch Me!! :yahoo: :funky: :cheer:

 

 

We thought it was a great song, feels fresh, also known outside of Melanie C herself. Plus at the worst it would give it some decent streams.

 

I've had a look at the list and I actually think Mel stands up well against a lot of the tracks I hope you guys think the same and can send a vote Melanie's way:

Kidding, just be honest, I wouldn't include Spice Girls if they genuinely weren't in my top 6.

I imagine it will naturally be in my Top 6! I think she does the song justice and then some! :wub: Her vocals really suits dance music. I wouldn’t say no to a direction like this with future music, original material inspired by classic dance anthems.

 

Even if it doesn’t do well, hey, at least it’s potentially getting 50 more streams than it necessarily would have done otherwise lol.

Touch Me is actually performing quite well so far. Hopefully that lasts but it is early days of course! At least it seems a few people have made a nice discovery out of it, and that's the main thing really.

Well we couldn’t as it is album track round.

The song is doing fine.

It's not a remix, it's the only version of Melanie C - Touch Me that exists! The song was exclusively included on her Melanie C Deluxe CD last year, and this week it was finally released to digital and streaming platforms. "Billen Ted Edit" was likely added as a tag on streaming, to draw attention to the fact it's produced by them, given that they're current and popular producers. They were less known when it was on her CD last year.

 

This round is an album track themed round, so sending a Victoria Beckham single would have been a bit difficult. ;)

 

 

There were over 180 album tracks to pick from, obviously not everyone is going to be satisfied. I mean, let's look at the suggestions we received (not including input from myself and spiceboy):

 

3 - Saturday Night Divas (Jade / Mazon Mount / Vibe)

1 - Breathing (Mr.X)

1 - Feel the Sun (Mr.X)

1 - Good Enough (JosephStyles)

1 - If You Wanna Have Some Fun (Mr.X)

1 - Overload (JosephStyles)

1 - Touch Me (Vibe)

 

Even though SND was the front runner, at the end of the day the feedback was quite spread out and not one solo song was mentioned more than once. Almost 60 people take part in each round, so there's really no telling which songs will be well received or not. The feedback we receive between rounds is really appreciated, though it does come down to us mods having to decide on something, and we ended up feeling happy and satisfied with the decision to go with Touch Me. It's not easy to decide when there's so many options and arguments to be made in favour of many different songs. We decided on Touch Me because of it being "new", it's well received by the fanbase, and to give it a few more streams than it probably would have achieved otherwise!

 

A few people have voted for it already so presumably enjoyed it, which is great! Even if it ends up coming last, I stand by that it was worth sending because it's introducing a song that people might not have checked out if it wasn't for AF Idol.

 

Also we know that Melanie isn't one for recording cover versions often, so presumably Melanie is enthused about this song to have wanted to record it - and to be giving it special attention this week, and performing it live. I think it has great production and she sounds great, dance music suits her well. So personally I don't think this was a very strange choice, or a lazy cover as someone else opined in the thread. Funnily enough I've noticed one particular member has voted for Touch Me, who hadn't voted for any of the 6 previous entries, so even that alone makes this choice worthwhile.

 

Sorry for the essay, yes I know I'm taking this too seriously, but it's not the easiest of tasks and it's hard to satisfy everyone.

I mean, kudos for trying out. I wouldnt have picked it, personally, but it seems like it is doing ok so far.

Touch Me came 9th with 20 votes - I’m happy enough with that! I just didn’t want it to be last and at least a few people enjoyed it *.*

 

The next round is Free Choice…

 

We had it in mind to give Mel B and Geri a chance, given that we’ve sent a few Melanie C songs and a couple of Emma singles. The pessimist in me assumes that they’ll both struggle against the other artists, but hey, maybe it’s more interesting to not play it safe.

 

If we go with Mel B… which single? I Want You Back? Feels So Good? Something else?

 

I would think Round 9 would be more suited to Geri than Mel B.

 

 

Any suggestions? Let us know what you think of the Mel B / Geri idea.
