71 [67] = Chris Brown (feat. Benny Benassi) - Beautiful People = 105pts

So the first set of results sees a couple of surprises, one big one in this section being ‘Dirty Talk’ dropping 37 places. Last year it climbed into an auto-qualification spot however this year really struggled to gain any form of support/ We also see big falls for ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ and ‘Notorius both of which were skirting around the top 60 last year, however in their final year drop out of contention. Bre’s last minute (or after last minute) vote actually managed to save ‘Headlines’ from being in last place, instead it drops just 2 places and manages to maintain its top 100 placement. The bottom seems to be quite littered with new entries, in fact 8 of the bottom 10 all come from songs which weren’t nominated in previous years.

70 [NE] = Metronomy - The Look = 107pts

69 [69] = James Blake - The Wilhelm Scream = 107pts

68 [NE] = Horrors - Still Life = 107pts

63 [NE] = Maccabees - Pelican = 122pts

62 [NE] = Foo Fighters - Walk = 122pts

61 [NE] = Christina Perri – A Thousand Years = 123pts

60 [58] = One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful = 125pts

59 [59] = Example - Stay Awake = 125pts

58 [79] = Ben Howard - Keep Your Head Up = 125pts

57 [53] = Wanted - Glad You Came = 131pts

56 [NE] = Noah & The Whale - L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N = 131pts

55 [71] = Delilah - Go = 132pts

54 [42] = Marina & the Diamonds – Radioactive = 140pts

53 [30] = Ke$ha - We R Who We R = 141pts

52 [70] = Bon Iver – Holocene = 146pts

51 [49] = Snoop Dogg vs David Guetta – Sweat = 149pts

This section sees some more big drops as ‘Broken Record’ and ‘Blow lose their top 50 placements. It’s a bit of a poor year for Ke$sha all round as ‘We R Who We R’ drops 23 places and outside of the auto qualification zone. ‘A Thousand Year’s enters at 61 in its final year and is quite a way behind ‘Jar of Hearts’. We see big climbs for ‘Keep Your Head Up’ which surges to 58th place. ‘Go’ climbs to 55th place and ‘Holocene’ climbs 18 places and finishes just 9pts away from the top 50. ‘L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N’ is the 3rd highest new entry at 56th place this year being ‘AKA What a Life’ and ‘I Follow Rivers’ which are still to come.

50 [43] = Maroon 5 (feat. Christina Aguilera) - Moves Like Jagger = 155pts

49 [20] = Lady Gaga - Marry The Night = 155pts

48 [63] = Alexandra Stan- Mr Saxobeat = 157pts

47 [27] = Katy Perry (feat. Kanye West) - E.T. = 158pts

46 [44] = Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend = 158pts

45 [47] = Bombay Bicycle Club – Shuffle = 160pts

44 [50] = P!nk - F**kin' Perfect = 160pts

43 [33] = Nicole Scherzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath – 162pts

42 [NE] = Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - AKA What a Life = 168pts

41 [14] = Saturdays - All Fired Up = 171pts

40 [24] = Black Keys - Lonely Boy = 175pts

39 [21] = Nero – Guilt = 181pts

38 [39] = Rihanna - S&M = 185pts

37 [37] = Nicki Minaj - Super Bass = 188pts

36 [25] = Drake (feat. Rihanna) - Take Care = 190pts

So some big, big changes here as we lose 2 of last years semi-finalists. ‘Marry the Night’ and ‘All Fired Up’ take steep drops this year; both finished top 20 last year and made it through to the semi-final rounds, however votes were in short supply for both this year. We also have 6 other songs which drop out of the auto-qualification zone (or if there was one for 2011 for next year), ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’ drops 10 places to 43rd, ‘Lonely Boy’ slides 16 places to 40th and ‘Guilt’ drops 18 places after just missing out on a semi-final position last year. ‘E.T.’ took a big drop last year and in its final year continues to bomb as it drops 20 places to outside the top 40. ‘AKA What a Life’ becomes the 2nd highest new entry at 42, whilst we see ‘Mr Saxobeat’ and ‘Perfect’ take big climbs in their final year on Record of the Decade.

[Auto Qualified*] *(As this is the last year, none of these songs will be eligible next year)

35 [54] = Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me = 192pts

34 [60] = Martin Solveig & Dragonette – Hello = 202pts

33 [11] = Lady Gaga – Judas = 208pts

32 [29] = Calvin Harris - Feel So Close = 209pts

31 [38] = Coldplay - Every Teardrop is a Waterfall = 214pts

30 [36] = LMFAO (feat. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock) - Party Rock Anthem = 215pts

29 [19] = Ellie Goulding – Lights = 216pts

28 [22] = Calvin Harris (feat. Kelis) – Bounce = 217pts

27 [35] = Britney Spears - Till The World Ends = 217pts

26 [52] = Vaccines - If You Wanna = 221pts

25 [41] = Arcade Fire - Ready To Start = 221pts

24 [46] = Snow Patrol - Called Out The Dark = 22pts

23 [40] = Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know = 230pts

22 [31] = Nero – Promises = 233pts

21 [23] = Coldplay – Paradise = 242pts

So these would normally auto-qualify for next year, however this is the songs final year on the Tournament… but a look at what would’ve done. Some more big changes and big climbers. Like ‘Marry the Night’, ‘Judas’ had quite a lack of support and fails to reach the semi-finals, it drops 22 places to 33rd which might signal not the best year for Gaga. ‘Light’s also drops out of being in the semi final as it slides 10 places to 29th. This section does however see some big climbs. ‘Hold it Against Me’, ‘Hello’ and ‘If You Wanna’ all climb from outside the top 50 and would have automatically qualified for next year. We also have climbs into this year by ‘Every Teardrop is a Waterfall which rises 7 places, ‘Ready to Start’ which climbs 16 places at 25th, ‘Called out the Dark’ which climbs 22 places to 24th and ‘What You Know’ which climbs 17 places. Basically a good year for Inside music. Nero once again sits outside of the Semi-Final as ‘Guilt’ was 21st last year, this year ‘Promises’ finishes in 22nd place and ‘Paradise’ fails to reach the semi-final by just 5pts. So what did make it?

Semi-Finalists

20 [32] = Emeli Sandé – Heaven = 247pts

19 [14] = Lady Gaga - Born This Way = 249pts

18 [08] = Adele - Set Fire To The Rain = 253pts

17 [NE] = Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers = 255pts

16 [15] = Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks = 273pts

15 [28] = Christina Perri - Jar of Hearts = 284pts

14 [17] = Katy Perry - The One That Got Away = 286pts

13 [13] = Kanye West - All Of The Lights = 290pts

12 [26] = Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me = 295pts

11 [18] = Naked & Famous - Young Blood = 298pts

10 [16] = Florence & The Machine - Shake It Out = 301pts

09 [10] = Adele - Someone Like You = 302pts

08 [12] = Avicii – Levels = 305pts

07 [09] = Jennifer Lopez (feat. Pitbull) - On The Floor = 328pts

06 [01] = Adele - Rolling In The Deep = 344pts

Changes continue as we have several new semi-finalists… ‘Heaven’ climbs 12 places to reach the semi-final and we also have climbs for ‘Jar of Hearts’ and ‘Changed the Way You Kissed Me’, all of which missed out last year. ‘I Follow Rivers’ is the highest new entry and goes straight into the semi-finals after finishing in 17th place. Adele has a slightly uneven year as ‘Set Fire to the Rain’ drops 8 places (and was lucky to make it to the semi-finals) to 18th place, however ‘Someone Like You’ climbs 1 place to 10th. The biggest change comes in the form of ‘Rolling in the Deep’ which climbed to be the highest song in the 2011 heat last year, this year however it drops 5 place and means it must fend for itself in the semi’s rather than have a direct route to the final. There is a good mix of songs here though, with pop, indie and also dance being represented. So what made the final?

:cheer: Finalists :cheer:

05 [05] = Lady Gaga - The Edge of Glory = 349pts

04 [06] = Chase & Status (feat. Liam Bailey) - Blind Faith = 373pts

03 [02] = Rihanna (feat. Calvin Harris) - We Found Love = 421pts

02 [03] = Lana Del Rey - Video Games = 442pts

01 [04] = M83 = Midnight City = 505pts

Its not all doom and gloom for Gaga, as whilst she has taken a hit with a couple of songs, ‘Edge of Glory’ remains in 5th place after a close batter with both ‘On the Floor’ and ‘Rolling in the Deep’. ‘Blind Faith’ climbs 2 places and manages to automatically qualify for the final after hitting 6th place the last 2 years. Now ‘We Found Love’ finished in 2nd place in this heat last year, however went on to finish 3rd overall, this year however the song is pushed down to 3rd place which 2 song overtaking it. Possibly not the best start, considering some thought it may be a lock for the win this year with other songs now out, but I guess we’ll see. ‘Video Games’ climbs a place to the runner-up spot, however the undeniable winner of this year is ‘Midnight City’. The M83 song really did dominate from the beginning and held the lead throughout and finishes 63pts clear of 2nd place!

I know this is the last time we're doing the 2011 ROTD but I don't see why that is a reason to just not reveal what the winner of the year was?

this is the last time I get to make this epic banterous joke

'Blind Faith' in the top 5 we love to see <3 and a couple of great songs climbing into the honorary AQ status even if it means nothing, yay for Snow Patrol and The Vaccines in particular.

Wow at Lykke Li getting 17th :o great final results for What You Know and Ready to Start also

The rightful winner :cheer: Bre will be chuffed with that one

M83 slaying and Bre still in denial :cheeseblock: let's get a great last finishing position x

Wow I nominated both of the highest two entries you're welcome B-) I'm really surprised I Follow Rivers hasn't been in this before, it seems like quite a big Buzzjack fave in the niche areas of the site from what I know!
