One would say this album release is looking like an unexpected collision involving 2 or more vehicles. Couldn't find a proper word for it

Every Rule is cute (but very album track) - it reminds me a lot of Official, mixed with an 80s movie soundtrack

This is nice! I'd perhaps even say my second favourite behind 'Good Ones' so far.

Listened to all of the new tracks, I enjoy the album...

 

Highlights:

'Constant Repeat' is an early highlight, real single potential. The production reminds me of Sonique.

 

Quite like 'Move Me', the Chorus is the best bit, I just think it's going to take a few more listens to really grab me.

 

'Lightning' is fantastic and could be my personal favourite song from the album (In contention with 'Good Ones'). That 80s synth, the vocal effects and glitching, with the unexpected instruments. It kind of gives me 'Gone Part 2'.

 

'Used To Know Me' is the 'OUT OUT Part 2', it's inclusion makes me confused that 'OUT OUT' hasn't been tacked onto the end of the record since they have a similar vibe. Personally I think the Robin S sample has been done to death, but the song is still a bop.

I’m usually totally over ‘Show Me Love’ samples but for some reason I really like it in ‘Used to Know Me’.

Charli delivered :cheeseblock: Every Rule keeps getting better, and Constant Repeat / Lightning / Twice are up there too. True Romance (her best album!) vibes come through strong on quite a few tracks which ofc I love. The proper echoey 80s synths too, obsessed!

Used To Know Me is a basic bop, I'd be here for that to smash after Beg For You!

I love Yuck, Used To Know Me, Twice, Baby, New Shapes...the album is solid overall.

I've only just noticed she's never had a top 10 album before here, SURELY this will be the week to change that?!

 

Love the album so much! It's always hard to know immediately how to gauge an album where you've heard 4 songs in advance, especially out of 12, it doesn't leave quite as much to discover BUT it's actually less commercial than I expected and I love that. There's plenty of songs (Constant Repeat, Twice, Lightning) which could easily have belonged on Charli, whilst songs like Yuck and Used To Know Me feel more than like the "commercial" vibe she's promised this will be.

 

A lot worth going back to that's for sure :wub:

I'm not that taken by this album tbh, nothing is as good as Beg For You, although there are some great tracks (Yuck, Constant Repeat and Used To Know Me). The ones we heard prior to the album except Beg For You are the weakest tracks for me, as a whole I'm not as in love with the album as others seem to be but there's definitely a strong crop of keepers there.
