There’s some seriously fantastic tracks on this.

Not surprising in the slightest. He never disappoints.

A remix for The Joker and The Queen will be released in the next few months, featuring an American artist.

no please :D

yesterday I randomly heard the Beyonce part in Perfect and what a cringe

I assumed it would be Elton that was the person doing the duet in ‘The Joker and the Queen’.

Some of the melodies, bridges and middle 8s are brilliant in this. Once again I can pick out influences in every song!

Love ‘Be Right Now’! Reminds me of something Darren Hayes would have done for ‘The tension and the spark’ album.

I think the EJ duet will be a brand new song

That would make sense to be fair.

Loving ‘Stop the rain’ the most at the moment, it’s like something of the first album mixed in with the new sound.

"Tides" is SO good :cheeseblock: that along with "First Times" and "Be Right Now" were my clear highlights on first listen.

Definitely a solid album, might need a few more listens for some of the tracks though. The singles remain 2 of the weakest on the album for me, Overpass Graffiti is easily better than both of them and I don't even like it that much :kink:

Sounds a slightly heavier and more musically accomplished album than 'Divide' on first listen. Not exactly a hard left turn but seems less obviously commercial.

I seriously wanted to give it a chance but the first lyrics I hear are "Been to an Irish bar in central Rome" :D

not really for me... bye bye Ed :D

Are you sure you wanted to give it a chance Bjork considering your daily comments in here everyday 😂

Bye bye, Bjork!

Wouldn't say not a bad song - '2Step' is a bit naff but loving 'Sandman' (love the pastoral classical instrumentation), 'Tides' and the closer 'Be Right Now' is a bop (touch of the Arcade Fire there).

'Joker and the Queen' is lovely but to me doesn't sound like a single - I doubt it would have made it to Christmas no.1 so probably wise he has gone for something different since he wants that crown.

This album doesn't really have a bad moment for me and I'm very surprised at that since it's even taken me this long to get on board with his music. Be Right Now is the clear standout for me. It's impeccable. The lyrics are beautiful and the production is fantastic  if that doesn't get a single release that would be a massive loss imo.

Yeah so this is fantastic. I've always liked Ed, but his first 3 albums while they have lots of highs, there are lots of lows there too and tracks I just can't connect with. So many bops on here, ok it is not totally experimental, but he really branches out to use different instruments throughout the arrangements. I enjoyed Bad Habits for all of about 5 minutes, but got bored it pretty easily. So many potential singles from the album, disappoints me that they chased the Spotify/TikTok trends.

Still lots of your standard soppy Ed-cheesy lyrics, but this time they feel a bit more.. real? Not sure on that, but they feel a bit more like they have been written from the heart rather than written to PULL on heart strings for radio. Agree with JSG, think Be Right Now is my early favourite, the production on it is something else. Totally get the Arcade Fire suggestion from Smint too - sounds like something from the late 00s indie trend.

I like Sandman a lot too, I think it's completely different to the rest of the album. Sounds a bit like Jack Jones, but a really beautiful, happy lullaby song!

Really enjoying the album. ‘Tides’, ‘Be Right Now’ and ‘Stop The Rain’ are my standouts. ‘The Joker And The Queen’ is probably my least favourite but might grow on me on repeat listens. I’m liking ‘Overpass Graffiti’ but it kind of sounds like a remix of an acoustic track to me and don’t really think it’s the best choice of single.

Great album as everyone says but not keen on Tides at all.

Best track for me is First Times followed by Stop The Rain, Bad Habits and Shivers.

After 3 hearings, not quite as good as Divide though.
