Something I’ve always wondered but never questioned is why some transfers are listed as undisclosed when it comes to price and add-ons. Is it the club that usually specify that a transfer fee should not be disclosed, or is it the wishes of the player not to publicise their financial worth?

I'm still convinced sometimes they're undisclosed in case of future backlash should the player turn out to be an expensive flop.
I've been reading The Secret Footballer recently, and he suggested that they usually happen either so that the fans of the buying team don't think they've wasted money, or that the fans of the selling team don't think they've given away a star player for not much money.

So soon then it could be the case that all transfers are undisclosed if every team follows this philosophy.

Some fees have to be disclosed for business reasons or because one of the clubs involved is listed on the stock market.

Most transfer fees are disclosed although what I always find interesting is the figures that get led - e.g. most transfer fees are over/under reported as most fees are made up of add-ons.
