She's an absolute pro these days at saying the right thing and playing it right to what audience she is in front of.

She certainly is, it's such a stark contrast to how she was even 5 years ago (let alone 15-20 years ago). 5 years ago, the best she'd really say about them is that the Olympics performance was amazing and they could never top it. I'm definitely pleased that in recent years she's come around to being super proud of the Spice Girls, and while this is clearly genuine, she definitely has the self-awareness to know how well she comes across when she's positive about them. I think she's going to do really well for herself and the girls through taking part in this. Let's hope she goes very far into the competition.

Mel B was known as Mel B more in the states thanks to the Eddie Murphy drama.

I'd say Wannabe as her first dance is really cement it into the minds of the viewing audience that she is a Spice Girl and it's the song they most likely know. It is on the nose for sure, but it's probably the best way for her to establish a fan base on the show.
Why not? People will be reminded straight away who she is.

 

Because she is more than "being a Spice Girl". I obviously get it from television perspectives, but I feel this all has to focused way too much on Sporty Spice instead of Melanie C.

I'm sure after the introductory week she'll settle into being "Melanie C" and not being full on Spice Girls about it... but I totally understand why, for an American audience, they're being heavy handed in letting people KNOW that she is one of the Spice Girls!

I'm not but I'm absolutely happy to say Emma is known and gets booked as being Baby Spice with anything she does in the US. She's had no real success there outside of the Spice Girls and when she does TV jobs there she knows she's being booked because she is Baby Spice.

 

Man Mel C fans are so defensive when anyone says anything that isn't OMG she's so amaze. She's barely done anything outside of being a spice girl in the states, they would be mad not to sell and push her as Sporty Spice she knows this too.

I agree with what you say. It makes sense.

 

But let’s not forget the Spice Girls are people and individuals. It doesn’t always have to be Spice persona vs real self. Of course, they’re known with their nicknames, even Posh.

 

I really hope they don’t introduce her as Sporty Spice. She’s Melanie C, first of all.

It’s something new for Mel. Ball dancing is something specific she needs to learn. But she did great. Again I’m not surprised to date Mel B, Mel C, and Emma are the ones who have challenged themselves with this. Mel B is the natural dancer, Emma is the girly one with great moves, and Mel C the one with technique. If it wasn’t for her injury, I’d see her doing lots of acrobatic.
She did good !! She will improve and i imagine smash the ballroom dances better than the latin.
