Are we really calling Leigh having an issue with someone faking being mixed race for clout 'dirty work'?

I think some people just find it weird as her best friend and business partner is overly tanned and you could say 'blackfishes' but there is no issue with her. If you go onto her instagram there are many much worse pictures. I think hold the same standard for EVERYONE if you're going to be calling out 'black fishing'.

I love Leigh, I really do but even her just saying that is not okay in my opinion. It's just inciting hate, if she has an issue she should speak up and not let other people do the dirty work. She knows how much trolling and hate on social media affected Jesy and she's inciting that? I wish all of this wasn't happening.

I think there should be discussions but in private and not smear campaigns against Jesy (which this whether intentionally or not looks like), especially from a girl group that are all about female empowerment and lifting up others. So it's weird to see someone in that group doing something like this.

I know you and others may not agree and I feel terrible even saying it as I really do love Leigh but i'm just so shocked.

I completely agree with you for what it’s worth.

There isn't a world in which I'm not going to stand with Leigh-Anne on this. She should not be made to be the villain in this scenario. It's been disappointing to see Jesy digging her heels in deeper seemingly, rather than trying to gain knowledge. I hope she can learn from this.

I don’t think anyone is saying she’s a villain, she has every right to feel how she does, just be consistent with everyone. I say this as a POC. I just think she could have avoided that whole situation happening and suggesting a negative video is made.

I guess the difference is that this girl is just tan, she's not going about with afro wigs.

For me the video is just not a good look for Jesy. I think the thinking is PROBABLY that doing an homage to the Diddy video is fun and to make it US based for a better chance to impact the US market, but at the same time that is at best ignorant and at worst not caring at all how it comes off, for her to be wearing an afro wig, talking about being in the hood and stereotypical black culture things, etc. Intentional or not it feels like she is being marketed as if she is herself a mixed race girl from the hood in America instead of a white British woman.

Exactly. People keep going on about the tanning, but that's obly part of the problem

I think it's odd that people are trying to boil it down to her tanning habits when it's more about the overall package. The reason why people criticize Jesy is that it comes off as she treats it like a costume that she can just take off when it suits her. Hell, even for biracial people historically there was a lot of value about "passing" as white and hiding your background.

As for Leigh-Anne - I guess she just hit her boiling point; in the interviews it comes across as they're the ones who didn't respond to her when she's reached out. If she blocked them, well... then you have the fact that she just did a whole documentary about this issue, only for Jesy to write off everything she's said with a shrug.

Nobody has still PROVEN that Jesy did not block the girls. If you've blocked someone, their "likes" on your previous posts will still be visible to others. They'd only be invisible to you the blocker, and of course the blocked who can't even see the posts anymore.

To be fair, can anybody blame Jesy for feeling ganged up on? Twitter is REALLY spiteful and constantly looking for reasons to tear people down, so when they find a (valid) reason for it, they go all in and that’s just unfair tbh. I had this conversation with someone about the hypocrisy because a lot of these people were all “issa mood” whatever when Ariana released 7 Rings and I’m just like… really? And they said Ariana got criticised too but it was NOWHERE near the extent Jesy is, Ariana really wasn’t affected by it and continues to do much of the same. Two wrongs don’t make a right but a lot of this “activism” is just not genuine. I want consistency. You can’t call out Jesy for this while giving Ariana a pass because it’s cool to like Ariana.

And at the end of the day, this issue is bigger than any one pop star who really doesn’t deserve to bear the brunt of this

People are evolving and getting educated. 7 Rings was over 2 years ago, so it's understandable that some who didn't have an issue with it then do have issues with this.

And no I don’t think it’s okay for Jesy to behave like this. That “so hood” line was very cringey and I find it hard to believe the label just let that pass… to be honest it feels like controversy was the goal and considering Boyz is doing better than 99% of LM songs worldwide, it’s working. The Twitter hive mind is extremely easy to provoke.

Okay which is fair enough but did they really learn from it? I’m still seeing a lot of these same people trying to tear Jesy down and using AAVE to do it (white British gays saying “make it make sense”), hiding behind pictures of famous black women… maybe this could be a learning experience for them too but nope, nobody wants to take accountability for their own mistakes but are quick to attack others. Social media is very very ugly, even when it’s “justified”

Probably too early to call, it's still day 2/3, and it hasn't done much different from the very recent Heartbreak Anthem. Actually, HA by its day 2/3 was doing better than Boyz is doing now worldwide.

If Leigh was going to ASK an influencer to create content she would offer to pay them and actually ask not tell them what to do, and would do so politely. It was clearly a statement to provoke thought, for him to consider what he's actually promoting.

That desperado tik tokker was in no way crying til 7am in the morning. More like fizzing at the gash until 7am thinking how much engagement he's going to get on his socials. If you notice on the screenshot his first reaction is to be 'i'm hurt by this'. He's thick as pig shit.

People need to realise while for them Jesy's video may be just a one off thing that they can get past, for Leigh it is clearly the straw that broke the camels back. Imagine working with someone helping themselves and tucking into your culture without any push back while you get vile racist abuse for just existing.

One could argue that the whole Salute campaign was based on blackfishing.

This is such an uncomfortable reading, I don't see in anyway that Leigh Anne is in the wrong here and the fact she's being portrayed as jealous is what's wrong with society, I'm sure Leigh Anne has called Jesy out on multiple occasions for Blackfishing but this is one of the first time publicly and Jesy has never been sympathetic towards the racism that Leigh Anne has received "I've not asked her but I know she deals with it better than me" while she was in the band.

Can we please not turn this narrative on Leigh Anne being a vicious bully etc for what seems like finally having enough of Jesy's shit and it seems like all the other grils have too, If the screenshot is true (that guy is loving the drama), Leigh Anne isn't specifically asking him to do a blackfish video, it's very tounge in cheek.

Jesy didn't acknowledge Leigh Anne's documentary also and didn't acknowledge her pregnancy.

would perrie really go out her way to unfollow Jesy from her dogs account, I think all of this is a marketing plan from Jesy and her team, I wouldn't put it pass her and I really don't get the victim tag that she's receiving, she unfollowed the girls, the girls have unfollowed her back, we move on.

Arguably, the fact that Jesy was in a group with a member who just did a whole documentary high-lightning the issue doesn't exactly help her cause.

Also when you block someone you can still appear on their likes, you would only disappear if they block you too, speaking from experience :selena:

I’m thinking he is trying to stir up drama and making all the stuff up for attention?

exactly

Completely agree. The fact anyone can interpret this situation as Leigh being the one in the wrong or inciting hate…wow.

why you are always my fav

I personally don't see Jesy thinking about a dog account and blocking them..

The whole thing is a mess, but like you said Jesy unfollowed first and they unfollowed back it was bound to happen.

She’ll soon declare that Margaret Thatcher was the original Little Mix and pretend to have a flirt with an ugly tv host to get more visibility. Ah, Geri Halliwell wannabes.
