I honestly can't believe that the first edition of Disco sells less than Golden while Disco is a far superior album.

 

We had a lockdown! Promotion was limited and there wasn’t a tour.

Ya the tour would have had an effect plus with Golden Kylie had some seriously good promo slots.

Yeah, I'd like her to get top 10 (and I'm sure she will) but ultimately I'm not gonna be too bummed if she doesn't as it's just a re-release of an album that has already done incredibly well. I'm just looking at it as an added bonus that we get some sales to add to its total.

I feel the same, while I'd be over the moon with top 10 I wont be gutted if it misses out.

Sales are very low right now so I’d be surprised if it doesn’t renter in the T10.

Hopefully all the hmvs being open will attract casual sales

I do think she will get the top 10 as her pre orders alone are good and enough to probably go top 10.

There are a lot of albums out though at moment, and a lot more on Friday.

I think the sales climate in general was a bit better when Golden was released. Disco has maybe not outsold it (yet) but the era feels way bigger than Disco was.

In what way do you think the disco era feels bigger? I’d say the other way round to be honest at the moment. I mean, dancing was actually a T40 hit but nothing has really impacted from

Disco though. It’s all been a bit muted due to impact of covid.

For me Disco is the better album but Golden felt like it was way more out there with people, maybe Dancing going Top 40 just made everything feel bigger plus Golden had a really good chart run. I think with Golden it benefited from a long campaign and Kylie was heavily on the promotional trail which was a big help where Disco suffered due to Covid and everything was more scaled back plus i think the label were trying to figure out ways to promote disco and to be fair they did well, infinite disco been a good example., but it was all a learning curve. I do think if covid wasnt with us during the release of Disco its sales could potentially be equal to golden or higher.

Golden had a phenomenal chart life and one of Kylies strongest for years.

The long term campaign rolled out for the album played a big role in this happening.

Ya i loved the chart run of Golden, and from a chart run point of view i was disappointed with Disco as i was hoping for a longer chart run, hopefully the new edition can get a couple of weeks in the top 100 when its released.

Well its release is upon us, looking forward to the midweeks already :o

We have to hope her website has managed a lot of sales......

 

The good thing is shops are open and people are spending money .... on all artists.

Looks like it’s going to be a very front loaded/fan driven release with the bulk of sales coming from the website.

Well those Amazon positions are a lot better than they have been last week still in the 200-300s. Those positions just current best sellers, not overall etc. There did go top when first released and once momentum drops. She has no Amazon exclusives this time it seems or signed.

 

So its an improvement.

 

Hopefully HMV shops will sell to casuals. will buy mine later.

Yes, very stress free it's more about how many extra sales it can get,, top 10 if it happens will be a bonus.

^^ It’s actually nice to have a Kylie album release that we can enjoy and appreciate the formats etc., rather than obsessing over the midweeks and iTunes/Amazon charts :lol:
