December 5, 20213 yr 0DPj33AIN7Y Hi8HjWTUqwI shaping up to be another great record hopefully, hyped to hear the studio version of Basketball Shoes
January 23, 20223 yr Author The 9-minute epic 'Snow Globes' came out on Friday, so excited for this album! I kinda hope they don't release any more songs before it though. hTVwQ1Gjqas
January 29, 20223 yr 'Snow Globes' is the first song I'm really getting into from them, have felt for a while that they are a band I should like more than I actually do but this song is clicking for me, love the aggressive drums in the latter half *.*
January 31, 20223 yr Author Oh crikey! Frontman Isaac has left the group, due to mental health issues I assume from his statement. The others will continue to produce music, and their new album is still set to release on Feb 2nd. Their new stuff succeeding this certainly won’t be the same! But I look forward to it nonetheless. @1488120061332279298
January 31, 20223 yr Oh wow, that's a shock! Brave thing to do to recognise the problem and leave something like this at such an exciting point for them.
January 31, 20223 yr Oh, that's sad news indeed. I hope that Isaac is ok, but support the decision to put his own health/wellbeing first and nonetheless am looking forward to their new album and the output that they will continue to put out. I played “Sunglasses” the other day (orginal single version) - still a complete TUNE.
January 31, 20223 yr that's a fuckin bummer man, definitely the right move for Isaac though, wishing him all the best <3 it's hard to imagine where the band will go next but I'll be looking forward to whatever they come out with
February 4, 20223 yr Author Their bassist Tyler has been confirmed as their new vocalist in an interview today. Other things pointed out: - there should be a tour this Summer - they will not be performing any of their previously released material live (I presume this means everything with Isaac’s vocals) - Isaac is feeling somewhat better now
February 5, 20223 yr That statement from Isaac felt quite uncomfortable to read - it kind of reads like someone who does not speak English very well? Hope that he will feel better soon anyway. </3
February 11, 20223 yr very good review on Pitchfork (8.4) https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/black-...-from-up-there/
February 11, 20223 yr This is an incredible album after going back to listen to it a few times, lots of very diverse instrumentation and feelings throughout, some cinematic, some emotional indie rock, far from the post-punk that I'd assigned them in my mind. Isaac Wood is a fantastic songwriter, I wish him all the best for the future, the remaining members of the band too.
February 25, 20223 yr Finally listened to this album today and I really enjoyed it - 'Good Will Hunting' and 'The Place Where He Inserted The Blade' are the biggest standouts from the album tracks for me, and I'm left a little mystified about why 'Bread Song' was chosen as a single as I think it was my least favourite song on the album (not terrible but it just feels a little bit undercooked/uneventful compared to the rest of the album). 'Chaos Space Marine' was better than I remembered it being though and 'Concorde' is also a great single which I hadn't heard until now. 'Snow Globes' is up there with my favourite songs of the year so far <3 (and it is kind of hitting extra hard in wake of the news about Isaac, similarly I think 'Concorde' may have had a bigger impact for me after that than if I had heard it before - quite sad if this is the last that we'll be hearing from him as I'm growing to really love his vocal tone)
