The Pogues having the 4th highest Xmas song on Spotify seems like a relative overperformance for them? IIRC their relative position tended to fluctuate a lot and they may have had some days being as high as 4th but on the same day last year they were only the 7th highest, also being behind Ariana, Brenda and Kelly (and they were still the 7th highest behind the same top 6 the following day to compare the corresponding Thursdays of this week).

They were also only the 6th highest on 25/11/19 (ahead of Kelly but behind the other 5 aforementioned), 5th highest on the corresponding Thursday also overtaking Brenda.

Of course they were and still are the third highest in the overall chart but that's usually because of stronger performances outside of Spotify.

Gayle-Abcdefu up to #14 on Amazon

also new on Amazon:

23 NEW Santa - The Mince Pie Song

I think this even reached #1 on Amazon last year but had some very bizarre pattern

The George Ezra Amazon exclusive is now #54

So I'd Taylors CTF apple exclusive old timey version , doing nothing, would love to see it chart but she will probably drop something and block herself knowing Taylor
Sam up to #4 on Spotfy, actually #3 considering Shivers is on ACR, and not far from Oh My God

White Christmas is #1 in US, very random seeing as its not its not usually one of the highest songs. This might be the first year Xmas songs are doing a lot better in the US than the UK, usually the other way around

Mariah was #1 on this same Friday last year, now just #12 with 120k less streams.

Come on Sam :cheer:

That is a bit random!

The US Christmas songs pantheon is normally a lot different than the uk, Wham and Mariah aside they do normally like their old seasonal crooner favourites rather than Christmas pop which Britain seems to do much better!

Yesterday new songs not done lot at all so does not look like seen new mistletoe and Wine any time soon then
Looking good for Sam at the moment, fingers crossed he can make it to the Top 3 officially. I'd rather see that than Adele monopolising it, regardless of whether I like all her tracks or not.

Kelly Clarkson 'Underneath the Tree' also no.12 and Ariana Grande's 'Santa Tell Me' made no.17 last year but yes overall agree - the US tend to listen to a lot of old fogie music at Christmas if I was being a bit mean.

I don't think *Collabro* were ever going to debut in the top 200 on Spotify, or even appear there at all over the original.

Why are Christmas songs lower in the UK compared to the USA?

Because it's November and we'll go FULL HAM from Wednesday

I think Thanksgiving to them is like the 1st December is to us, the sign that for full on blanket Christmas to begin!

Thanksgiving. Our Christmas period begins a few days later.

They've just had Thanksgiving as well, so I suppose they'll be playing Christmas songs at those events/parties?

Would you think they would play Xmas songs at Thanksgiving?

I have to say I’m really not excited about the Christmas songs this year, unless there are some good ones I haven’t discovered yet.

By contrast last year it was really exciting as it was clear as early as November that there was a great chance of Mariah reaching #1 (and a slimmer chance that Wham! might make it). It won’t be so exciting again unless something else like The Pogues gets a chance, which would presumably need a well organised and widely supported download campaign.
