Our top pick from this month's electronic tracks is Kathaldazia who just keep proving unable to miss, picking up 15 points this time with an epic techno instrumental - this is their 9th finalist in a row to make our votes and a new highest placing for them, their medal tally from us standing at 1 silver and 3 bronzes (Pascal Letoublon in BJSC 124, Will Sparks in BJSC 133 and SWIM in BJSC 137 each picking up 13 points before). We're sure an 18 is bound to happen one of these days. It's back to guitar music for our 13 which goes to an edgy grunge-y offering from Jupiterdonia which proved to be a big grower across the contest, providing their first medal position for us since our 15 points to Nicole Dollanganger in BJSC 119, and their medal tally now standing at 2 silvers and 1 bronze also including 15 points to FEVER 333 in BJSC 112. In a contest with a lot of big standouts where none of our major favourites DNQed (our biggest loss Kluminican Republic would have landed around 3 points if it had qualified) all of our top 7 felt worthy of medal positions here but alas four of those have to fall short - 12 points go to Rolloland continuing a very strong year of entries with my new favourite song from Blanck Mass, 11 go to another indie folk-ish track this time with an electronic tinge from Niceland, 10 go to probably the biggest earworm of the contest, the hook-filled dancehall/reggaetón stomper from Beaverdonia which is their first points from us since we gave 11 to The HU in BJSC 118 (not helped by most of their entries since DNQing of course x), and it's a criminally low 9 to our lovely hosts/auto-qualifiers and eternal fave providers Jadakissnia with a moody dark synth banger, actually a better song than the one we gave 10 points to last month. Rounding out the top 10, returnees Chestoria provided another big grower with their Lorde/Olivia Rodrigo-alike entry getting a surprisingly strong 8 points, a somewhat Animal Collective-esque electronic cut from Fljótavík gets our 7 points and 6 points go to Aeroche stealing Aquafina's sauce except doing it a little more infectiously x Mesmerising South African house from Cumulonimbia picks up 5 points, The Weeknd meets Years & Years R&B/pop provides 4 points to Altyr Muunilinst (their first showing in our votes since 6 points to Austra in BJSC 123), 3 points go to Funkytown a gloomy yet camp banger from Aelandor, 2 points go to a ~theatrical~ electronic track from N DNTN and our mealworm point is donated to some flop awarded to Cor Lupus doing their best Aeroche impression again.
