It doesn’t seem like the vinyl cover is actually metallic. Just a photoshop texture effect. Why even bother? It would have looked better as a solid colour.

 

Also the circular window for displaying the picture disc is smaller than their previous picture disc releases. That’ll look so meh unless it’s perfectly aligned, which probably none of them will be lol, just like the one above. It’s an OCD nightmare. Surely the point of a picture disc is to display it fully, but they’ve got their logo half on/half off, as is Victoria’s head. Ugh, I really hate the look of it.

They’re cutting it really fine to be so confident that people will get them before Christmas! That’s a chaotic time of year for obvious reasons. And if they arrive but there’s some kind of problem (like if it’s damaged or they send a wrong item) they’re most definitely not going to have customer service get back to you until after new year. Eek.

Today’s date marks 25 years since Spiceworld was released.

 

 

I’m disappointed with how this Spiceworld 25 era has played out so far, bar a couple of exceptions (Step to Me streamable, alternative SUYL video) but if we push all of this aside and focus purely on the original album itself - Spiceworld still stands up to me as being my favourite pop album of all time, it’s held up so well. The era felt magical to me at the time, from the perspective of a 9 year old, and I still look back very fondly on that time now. :wub:

Spiceworld is in my top 5 albums ever utterly love it. It deserved to sell just as much as spice did it’s a shame they dipped in sales.

Well I'll actually open my picture disc so can line it up perfectly if it isn't already.

This is how you tarnish your legacy, by screwing with it carelessly and only for money or cheap points. I can't say I am surprised though, given the almost no effort from the girls themselves.

I'm not massively bothered by the content of these anniversary re issues, the original albums hold up strongly anyway. A dolby atmos release of Spiceworld would he a nice treat.

 

Spiceworld is one of the strongest pop albums of all time in its ten track original format. :wub:

No, but it was an interesting take on the songs which brought to the front elements of the original songs that we couldnt hear before - like Emma's ad libs on Something Kinda Funny and the instruments in Say You'll Be There.

 

It is a good thing, personally, as it does give another take on the record but it is not meant to be a 'better' version of the songs, just different.

 

If they do a Spiceworld Dobly Atmos, I might get Apple Music afterall, as I just got rid of my Spotify account lol

From the clip, it sounds ok but deffo now quality... It is a bit wild to me that even the demos from 1996 in Spice 25 sounded better than most of what we've heard so far from Spiceworld 25....

The label sourcing & pressing lossy versions onto commercial CD and vinyl releases is just so...

I see Viva Forever is from Manchester, did a soundboard leak of this concert ever happen? also hearing the preview on Apple Music of Toronto its not from Much Music like most of us thought would happen.

I’m not even sure why I had envisioned a properly new megamix incorporating their songs in a new way! The same old remixes stitched together doesn’t seem like a good prospect… hopefully the transitions are done well but my excitement for this track is so much less now.

I can’t believe this album is 25 years old. So many memories and so much nostalgia. I didn’t receive the album until. Christmas Day. I was only 6. I can’t believe I had to wait several weeks 😆 Will always sound amazing. Such a timeless pop album.
