I don’t mind it without the black dots for the vinyl but I think the smaller images do benefit from the black dots, to make the word Spice stand out more. That was probably the logic behind it back in the day.

It’s weird that the Mel C shoe fail happened and wasn’t noticed before the vinyl went to press (in 1997). I have promotional Spiceworld postcards which have the logo without the black dots, but on this image the full shoe is there. So something went wrong with the image editing before the vinyl manufacture. And their team has failed to notice it in 2020 (vinyl reissue) & 2022 (digital).

25 years of fails

I prefer the 'Spice' without the black dots round it.

I also prefer it without the black dots, however I don't like the globe being smaller that is iionic!

Move Over (Live in Istanbul 1997) is out tonight at midnight ^_^

Yep, video is definitely coming tomorrow:

Happy we get the video uploaded. I have the Istanbul DVD but don't own a DVD player anymore so the more content online the better. I'd expect that is the same for most people these days.

They did cut out the whole intro which was the best thing about the live version

It’s strange that their team felt the need to cut the intro for the version on download/streaming/the Spiceworld 25 formats. Why not have it the same length as that video?
The intro is missing? *Goes back to listening to the Istanbul audio I've been listening to for years*

Yeah it is probably mainly because of timing in the CD and Vinyl as the intros for this and Spice Up Your Life were quite long  It sounds sooo much better with the intro though...

ANYWAY, we finally have the video of the performance in high quality! Strangely, I never get notifications of their releases on YouTube, even though I have selected to have them. I didnt get one for any of the videos in this campaign...

Because it is 2022 and barely a song released now is over 3 minutes. Who is going to sit and listen to a 90 second intro to a song when the skip button is right there.

It was sensible to shorten the audio version both for streaming and to fit more on the CD/vinyl.

The HQ video looks great. I'll take anything uploaded online as I have moved away from listening to or watching anything unless it is via streaming.

It is hit and miss for me, sometimes my phone shows a notification for a Youtube video from them sometimes not. Bit annoying tbh.

Releasing a live version of a song, but cutting the intro is idiotic. Live versions of songs appeal to hard core fans. Trying to have a live version of a song appeal to the masses by shortening it is absurd.

It really isn't absurd. You have to think about how streaming works these days. Having a song be as short as possible is a big advantage. If you have a spare hour and you put on a Spice Girls playlist or SW25 if the average length of a song is 5 minutes the artist gets 12 plays out of that hour, if the average length is 3 minutes they get 20 plays.

Most people stream music when they are travelling, getting ready, having a shower ect. You have to cram what you can into that limited time. It is why playlists/GH are king as people don't have time to search for each song they want to hear, they just want to stick something on and when they have finished getting ready turn it off. The only thing they are likely to do is hit skip if a song is too long or an intro goes on too long.

Imagine if the Prince or Whitney Houston estate shortened live tracks on Spotify to appeal to gen z. Talk about having no musical integrity. What a joke.

You are being overly critical I think. Didn't Michael Jackson have basically an album of unfinished demos released with one finished off by adding Ne-yo to it? Any Winehouse has had every scrap of material she recorded no matter how unfinished released. Then there is Xtina who just celebrated Stripped's anniversary with a shiny new cover, same with George Michael whose recent anniversary album included no new content at all.

Is SW25 perfect, hell no but there are a lot worse out there too.

You're not being critical enough. You're grasping for nice things to say about SW 25. Praising the girls and their team for uploading a HQ scan of the SW album cover to Spotify is laughable.

George Michael's reissue of Older went to #2 in the UK. That's without multiple vinyl covers and a CD release.

Kylie's Possible Princess offers no new content whatsoever, yet her fans are over the moon and rushed to buy 4 vinyl variants of the album and gave her a Top 5 (beating its previous #10 peak). That's impressive, considering it was a commercial & critical disappointment when first released in 1997.

It will be a shame if Spiceworld, which has sold more than 1.5 million copies and is a fan favourite, performs worse than an album that barely went Silver upon release.
