Isn’t it the same beat?

I haven’t got a clue haha

Aaaaaaand finally Track 14 - You’re Everything That Matters To Me

Atypical pop album closer. Nothing overly memorable to be honest. Lukuzz - in your top 5?!

Incorrect on this one !

Anyways that’s me over an out, I have a night of Housewives ahead! bye yall !

Well it’s certainly no Step One but I guess it isn’t that bad!

Thanks to those who joined - looking forward to seeing a few comments later…

Not the shade towards Make It Easy on Me :( It’s such a lovely song! I adored it when the album was new and even though I’ve not played it for ages, I still remember it well. Lisa got a chance to shine!

Did you guys realise that Movin’ On is another Bananarama cover? In fact it was a single for Bananarama, a #24 hit in 1992, released directly before their original of Last Thing on My Mind (which only managed #71!).

A lot of Steps tracks were old/reused so I don’t think having a negative connotation about that in regards to Love’s Got a Hold on My Heart is necessary unless you apply the same feeling to a lot of their other tracks. Tbh it was pretty common in the industry in general to take something unused/floppy by someone previously and try and make it your own moment. That’s exactly what Sound of the Underground is for Girls Aloud, for instance! I think LGAHOMH holds up really well for them, it seemed to go down well on tour. We shouldn’t forget that it was their last single to manage 100,000+ first week sales, so at the time it struck a chord too!

Sorry I couldn’t be here to listen and comment along, thank you for hosting it Jamesy & to those of you who took part :cheer:

Maybe it just sounds unfinished to me? There’s something missing in it that even some of the deep cuts on this album have. I can’t really explain it!

Can’t be explained because it’s LIES? :P

(By the way, correction re: “last song to sell 100k in first week” - Chain Reaction did it too!)

Yeah LGAHOMH isn't a fave of mine but I don't think it sounds unfinished by any means? I loved it when released just don't think it's aged well and its actually a bit annoying.
I’m going to start my comments over the coming days! It’s been quite a while since I listened to this album actually.

1. Tragedy

Their biggest hit! I had moments when this wasn’t a big favorite of mine. It grew on my again last year and I can’t deny the hit it was. Also, loved walking into my local cd shop and saw this one released (the Netherlands got their releases later or not at all).

Solid classic, enjoyable video so this one gets 9/10 from me!

2. After the love has gone

This one is quite solid and very Abba inspired. Imo underrated at times. You could tell from this release that Claire would remain their ‘lead vocalist’. She got a lot of slack but her voice really works with the song. An 8.5 for me for now! Love the video as well

I went through a stage where I got a bit sick of tragedy it was so overplayed and the one song they ALWAYS did / do... but I utterly adore it again now its such a CLASSIC!

3. Love’s got a hold on my heart

I was hyped for this release! They got some global succes with their first era and I was wondering if they could maintain it. And ofcourse, will this new material be as good? It didn’t disappoint me at all and played the single over and over when I got a hold on a copy. I still enjoy this one very much so 9/10 for me. Shame about Claire/Faye singing the most parts and those yellow outfits. They didn’t had the best styling back then imo.

4. Say you’ll be mine

Funny video with the scenes from some big movies back then. Only..those tacky (gold) outfits I can’t forgot. The song is a nice one. Not their best, far from their worst. 8/10 for now!
