This is a STRONG lineup, especially excited for Elisa!! *.*
Oh I saw that Mahmood and BLANCO were in it this year but did not realise they were on the same song! Looking forward to hearing that one. Good to see La Rappresentante Di Lista back again too as 'Amare' was a good tune (thanks to Lex sending it to BJSC for me knowing that ofc - a few other artists here that I've enjoyed songs from in BJSC as well so may have to check out a few of them this year!)

The Italian press have had their usual early preview of the competing songs and La Reppresentante di Lista seem to have got the best reviews along the lines of "if this wins and we send it to Eurovision, we win again!" The other best reviewed in the press are Mahmood & BLANCO, Elisa, Dargen d'Amico and Massimo Ranieri.

I don't think Maneskin were necessarily picked out as the obvious frontrunners from the press previews last year but it gives us our first clue to what we might be seved this year.

Did anyone watch the first night of Sanremo? I need to catch up in full later but saw Måneskin's returning performances ('CORALINE' was a nice surprise <3 you could really see how much it meant to Damiano at the end) and caught the Mahmood and BLANCO song which sounded pretty lovely, my prior knowledge of the latter is 'Notti In Bianco' which is decidedly more in-your-face

(also saw Matteo Berrettini popping up at one point *.*)

...right I've seen the full 3 and a half hours (!) of night #1 now after putting it on in the background and I'd say my top favourites are Mahmood & BLANCO (sounded even better second time <3 slowly getting to know BLANCO's tender side and enjoying it, would love to see this on the Eurovision stage - two guys singing a beautiful-sounding love song to each other), La Rappresentante Di Lista (can definitely see why this one was being raved about in Lex's post - was funky and joyful and their look was fairly standout) and Noemi (really liked her voice, apparently the song is written by Mahmood so that checks out quality-wise) - Rkomi was also sounding quite good. I was a bit disappointed by the Ana Mena song, probably because my standards were high based on the entries of hers sent to BJSC, but it was getting better as it went along so possibly a grower.

Edit: I prefer the studio version of Ana's, a grower indeed

orchestral 'ZITTI E BUONI' is still everything  lol at even Måneskin's entrance in that car thing taking 84 years :') MEDUZA performed too, TIL they're Italian :o

Jade - fellow tennis fan or just a general hot Italian guy stan?

Liking 'Ciao Ciao' on first listen, instantly catchy and lodged in my head. The Mahmood song is obviously no Soldi but it would've been a tough ask to match that and even Soldi I didn't overly rate on first couple of listens, I'd be fine if he wins again.

I'd be watching this live if not for timezones, 'Ciao Ciao' and 'O Forse sei tu' both sound like amazing choices for Italy (though I'd definitely say my frontrunner is La Rappresentante Di Lista, that'd be such a perfect aesthetic of a host entry), not convinced by the Mahmood duet yet.

Most of this sounds good but my main other standout is Le Vibrazioni (predictable) and that seems... a long shot

:kink: (but I am aware of him through his tennis achievements!)

All caught up on night #2 (it was 20 mins shorter than yesterday at least x) - I can definitely see why Le Vibrazioni appealed to you Iz! They stood out for me too. Elisa was also great as aforementioned <3 then it was a slog for a long while until the solid back-to-back of Aka seven and Highsnob & Hu. The latter caught me off guard a bit with that long hug mid-performance! Overall I felt that the quality was down on yesterday. Across both nights Elisa would slot into my top 3 in addition to Mahmood/BLANCO and La Rappresentante Di Lista, you'd think one of these would take it so hopefully I'm going to approve of the winner again.

Mika and Laura Pausini breaking out into a cover of 'I Have A Dream', sure, why not *_* great to see Mika again (trying to remember the last time I did, possibly at Judges Houses on X Factor UK? Google tells me that was 2017!) and I really liked the solo performance from Laura, looking forward to their actual Eurovision hosting (alongside Alessandro Cattelan of course)

Was nice to see a random cameo from Francesca Michielin - she was directing the orchestra for Emma!

I listened to all the songs in the background today, probably missed a few but the ones that stood out as winner material were Brindivi and Ciao Ciao for sure. Elisa is probably a grower so I'm going to give that another go - Rkomi and Tananai are also pretty good!

I still find funny they need 5 consecutive nights to choose the winner.

I've seen on YouTube just the top 10 favourites according to Eurovisionworld and La Rappresentante di Lista 'Ciao ciao' is definitely my fave. It's modern and catchy and has top 10 or top 5 potential in Eurovision finale, but I can't see a back to back for Italy in Torino to be honest.

The 2 big faves Mahmood & Blanco and Elisa songs are just dull for me.

Achille Lauro's 'Domenica' and Dargen D'Amico's 'Dove si balla' could be good choices too but they have no chance especially the former. :(

Up to 4 hours+ runtime for night #3 :kink:

'Brividi' is getting better and better for me with every listen/watch  also appreciated Rkomi more today!

I've concluded that the megaphone parts of Giusy Ferreri's performance are the most GIF-worthy Sanremo moments this year

This was impressive to see btw:

I really didn't like Brividi sadly :( The autotune at the start puts me off and the melody line is weak. It would easily be my least favourite Italian entry if this gets selected.

I feel like Brividi is going into tonight the frontrunner but with Mahmood's tour dates I wonder if they might turn down the ticket to go to Turin and then something like Ciao Ciao actually gets selected as the host entry?

Im watching tonights finale in the last 30 minutes and watched Mahmood @ Blanco's performance but non sono ancora convinto che sia la scelta migliore per l'Eurovision.

I wonder if Elisa and La Rappresentante di Lista have already performed tonight.

EDIT: lol at Achille Lauro trying to copy Maneskin's irreverence with that glass of champagne in his hand. :P His song is one of my faves tho.
