Second longest AO final after the 2012 one.

Also first ever time at AO someone won the final from 2 sets down.

And also largest gap between first and second win at a particular Slam.

this compensated for the ladies final, which was nice cos Barty won but was kinda boring and a non-event

Medvedev played well, better than I thought he was playing lately

and could easily be the next #1 once Novax retires

but he really should work on his attitude

you don't want the #1 in the world being someone everybody hates and boos

cos he insults judges, public, everybody

Novax is no gentleman like Riger and Rafa but he's never reached the lows Medvedev has reached lately

It's not his fault he's getting boos though? He's just a straight talker in conferences and tells things the way they are which is super refreshing.

Anyone who plays Nadal in a final is gonna get booed (unless it's Federer) because crowds are so partisan. Definitely not right to boo between first and second serves for example.

Former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro made a losing return to the court after two and a half years out with injury - and does not know if he will play again.

The Argentine was beaten 6-1 6-3 by compatriot Federico Delbonis at the Argentina Open.

Del Potro, 33, was in tears towards the end of the match and had to be consoled by Delbonis following the defeat.

Britain's Dan Evans reached the last 16 of the Qatar Open with a straight-set win over Egor Gerasimov.

World number 28 Evans claimed a 6-4 6-4 victory over the Bulgarian in his first match since suffering a third-round exit at the Australian Open last month.

He faces Tunisian qualifier Malek Jaziri or Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the next round in Doha.

Fifth seed Evans could yet face a quarter-final against Andy Murray, who received a wildcard to compete.

Fellow Briton Murray, a three-time Grand Slam winner, faces an opening match on Tuesday against Taro Daniel, the Japanese player who beat him in the second round of the Australian Open.

If Murray gets through, he will face Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut, the tournament's second seed, in the last 16.

Top seed Norrie will face American second seed Reilly Opelka or Australian John Millman on Sunday.

"I was really happy with my level. I played complete games on my serves and in my sets," he said.

Novak Djokovic says he had the "best possible experience" in returning with a win at the Dubai Tennis Championships in his first match since being involved in a vaccination and visa saga in the build-up to the Australian Open.

The world number one became the focus of a global story when he was deported from Australia on 16 January because of his Covid-19 vaccination status.

But on his return to action he saw off Italy's Lorenzo Musetti 6-3 6-3.

World number three Alexander Zverev defeated Jenson Brooksby in three sets at the Mexican Open in a first-round contest which set a new record for the latest finish to a tennis match.

Defending champion Zverev won 3-6 7-6 (12-10) 6-2 with the match ending at 4:55am local time in Acapulco.

A marathon second set was clinched by the German in one hour and 51 minutes.

The previous latest finish was 4:34am when Lleyton Hewitt beat Marcos Baghdatis at the 2008 Australian Open.

Play in Acaplulco does not begin until 6pm local time because of the heat and humidity, and all three of Monday's Centre Court matches lasted more than three hours.

The three hour 20-minute match between Zverev, 24, and 21-year-old American Brooksby - which did not get under way until 1:35am - fell one minute short of the longest match in Mexican Open history.

That record had been set earlier on Monday, when Stefan Kozlov defeated 2014 champion Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 (10-8) 5-7 6-3.

Andy Murray suffered another second-round exit as he was beaten by Jannik Sinner at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

The Briton was bidding for his 700th career victory but lost 7-5 6-2 to the Italian world number 10.

Murray has gone out in the second round at his past four tournaments, dating back to the Australian Open in January.

Elsewhere, Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal made a dominant return in the Mexican Open first round.

Murray claimed a battling first-round victory over Christopher O'Connell on Monday to set up a meeting with Sinner.

I see that Emma is already in her injury era

In better news, Djokovic OUT in Dubai which means Daniil Medvedev will take #1 in the rankings next week *.*
