On the album chart, 5SOS improve slightly on the #4 peak of their previous album Calm. They've had one #1 album in NZ, which was their debut album. Alice In Chains get a massive new peak for their 1992 album Dirt, which originally only peaked at #36 but is now a top-5! It's now their second-highest-charting album in NZ, only behind Jar Of Flies which was a #1 for them.

If you haven't heard of Avantdale Bowling Club, this is actually their third charting album but their first #1. (Any relation to Winnetka Bowling League? x) Slipknot earn their third consecutive #2 album, so oops at that. They did get a #1 album in 2008 though. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs fall just short of matching their best-charting album in NZ, It's Blitz which got to #22. That was their only other charting album here actually. And Kid Cudi's fortunes diminish quite a bit from his 2020 album which got to #7.

'Lift Me Up' is her first solo appearance since 'Love On The Brain', which got to #15 in late 2016, her first time in the top 3 since 'Wild Thoughts' got to #2 in 2017, and her first appearance altogether since featuring on Partynextdoor's 'Believe It', which also got to #15 in 2020. With Meghan Trainor also climbing in the top 10, this is the freshest top 10 we've had in ages, with 8/10 songs only 1 or 2 weeks old, and the oldest having only charted 12 weeks - although it is of course technically over 3 years old. Taylor's album bomb prevents SZA from making the top 10, she'd previously made it with both 'Good Days' (#3) and 'I Hate U' (#8) plus a few features. An old Becky Hill track enters further down at #30; her only other NZ chart appearances were on Wilkinson's 'Here For You', peaking at #8 earlier this year, and on Meduza's 'Lose Control', which peaked at #35.

December 6, 20222 yr Yes Raye! Promising start for Escapism. Hopefully will make some good gains in the week to come. Given none of the singles/pre-release tracks have made an impact, #40 for Stormzy doesn’t seem so bad.
