February 2, 20223 yr Author 1GddBJkj1mc 822NN79ZM9w "It's Only Us" is a song by British singer Robbie Williams, released as a double A-side with a cover of "She's the One" on 8 November 1999. Unlike "She's the One", "It's Only Us" was a brand new recording made for the FIFA 2000 soundtrack. As such, it did not originally appear on I've Been Expecting You but was eventually added to its 2002 reissue (replacing "Jesus in a Camper Van" due to copyright issues). The song became Williams' second number-one single in the United Kingdom, spending one week at number one. "It's Only Us" is the theme song to the EA Sports release of FIFA 2000, something which Williams agreed to on the condition that his team, Port Vale F.C., was included in the game. The video features a computer-animated Williams as part of the Port Vale football team and flying through space. The official soundtrack to FIFA 2000, entitled FIFA 2000: The Album, was released in 1999 and "It's Only Us" was the "official single" from it. The music video for the song also featured as an Enhanced CD feature on the album. The double A-side single became Williams' second number-one solo single in the United Kingdom, selling over 600,000 copies being certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. The single also entered the top three in New Zealand, Williams' second single to do so.
February 3, 20223 yr Author How we reported on Robbie Williams’ 1997 Norwich gig Former Take That member Robbie Williams performed at the University of East Anglia on October 1 1997. Below are our report and reviews from the time. Former Take That star Robbie Williams was up to his bad boy tricks again last night in Norwich, where he kicked off his first solo tour of the UK. Robbie appeared in a long frock coat, tearing it off to gyrate in tight hipster trousers for screaming girl fans. Always the cheeky one of the five boy band which split in 1995, Robbie sprang around the stage at the University of East Anglia making eyes at the front row of hysterical girls. He appeared all in grey but got rid of the coat and threw the tinted shades into the crowd before the first number. The concert marked a restart of 23-year-old Robbie's career after a six-week stint in a rehabilitation clinic for the singer who has vowed his days of drink and drugs are over. Last night all he was drinking was water, dripping it down himself, and confessing: 'I wish it was a pint.' Other references to his former habits included his foreword to a new song aptly titled Clean. Another of his songs Killing Me was another reference to his former torrid times when he took cocaine and developed a voracious drink problem. This came to a head in the summer of 1995 when he rebelled by filling his Jaguar full of champagne and driving to the Glastonbury pop festival to get drunk. On his return to rehearsals a week later, his career with Take That was in ruins. Last October he finally checked himself into a clinic on the advice of Elton John for an intensive therapy course. Last night it was obvious that going solo had always been his dream, the singer saying more than once: 'I've waited two years for this, this is all I've wanted to do.' And it was obvious that he was also doing what the 1500 crowd wanted him to. The singer, who said he used to visit Yarmouth as a boy, got the crowd in a frenzy at every mention and every swing of his hips. Last night's concert previewed the release on Monday of a solo debut album Life Thru a Lens, and a 16-venue tour of the UK followed by a shorter run in Europe. So he is here. After all the excitement, anticipation, and near hysteria, Robbie Williams is on stage at the UEA in the glittering show-biz capital that is Norwich to play his first solo gig. A lot is riding on this performance and, unfortunately for Robbie's cynics he really isn't that bad. He makes an impressive start, flirting with the crowd and teasing them to pleas of 'let me entertain you'. Robbie and the crowd feed off one another's energy and his hyperactive enthusiasm is hard to resist. The opening song finishes and you wonder how he will be able to keep it up and the crowd in such a frenzy. He doesn't disappoint as he follows with Lazy Days where the quiet break in the song is filled with the screams of several hundreds. Robbie's influences are obvious for all to see with the bulk of his repertoire touched by the trad-rock of Oasis and the Beatles with the occasional glam-rock stamp of T-Rex and David Bowie. Not everything in the set works, with a few of the songs veering towards meaningful but rather dull. But when it does work, as on recent hits South Of The Border, it works well. Much of the credit must go to Robbie's backing band who managed to beef up the songs to provide a more defined rock sound, something our Rob is aspiring to. But here comes a surprise. 'Here is one you might know,' he says, as the familiar chords to Back For Good begin, and suddenly it's 1995 again. However, it turns into a glorious punk-rock version, with Robbie finally laying the ghost of Take That. Closing with Old Before I Die and Primal Scream's Rocks Robbie makes his agenda clear. Here is a man who has had the drug and drink hell and now has control of his life. And, as the tour says: 'The show-off must go on.' Katie Durrant Norwich Evening News Review: Fans in a frenzy over Robbie He hit Norwich for his first ever live solo gig — and they went crazy. Bad boy Robbie Williams was at the UEA last night and it was all good, clean, screaming fun. The former Take That star, who has recently tackled his addiction to drugs and alcohol, sent the crowd into a frenzy. Appearing in a long grey frock coat, he leapt about the stage, tore off the jacket and gyrated to the sound of the crowd's screaming. The 23 year-old singer vowed before his fans his days of drink and drugs were over. Robbie, whose new EP South of the Border has just been released, gave the 1500-strong crowd the performance they were waiting for. Much of his material came from his debut album Life Thru a Lens, to be released on Monday. His sound was strong, performing both the quieter and harder numbers well, and he was given strong support from his excellent backing band. The man who once sang with the country's top group stood on stage alone last night — and despite all he has been through, proved he could do it. February 4, 20223 yr Author Love this song, love the video, loved the sentiment behind the song, love everything about it  Uyb67x1C2Dg vq8UmgALtss This is a review from Musicmusingsandsuch. FEATURE: TOO GOOD TO BE FORGOTTEN: SONGS THAT ARE MUCH MORE THAN A GUILTY PLEASURE: ROBBIE WILLIAMS – NO REGRETS ___________ THIS is going to be a fairly short edition of Too Good to Be Forgotten: Songs That Are Much More Than a Guilty Pleasure. I am featuring Robbie Williams’ 1998 single, No Regrets. There is not a lot of information regarding the song, but I know that a lot of people think of Williams’ music as a guilty pleasure. I have seen No Regrets included as a guilty pleasure on some lists. I am a fan of his first two solo albums. I think I bought his debut, Life Thru a Lens, in 1997. It was a confident and accomplished album from the former Take That member. It must have been hard stepping away from such a successful and big band to go alone. Co-writing with Guy Chambers on most songs on the album, I think that album is one worth exploring if you have not done already. With singles like Angels, and Let Me Entertain You scoring high chart positions, Life Thru a Lens was a commercial success for Williams. There was no real sophomore slump on his follow-up, I've Been Expecting You. If the cover for his debut saw Williams drowned in cameras and looking quite serious, I've Been Expecting You featured Williams as a James Bond-like figure with a cheeky look. I do think that I've Been Expecting You is a more confident album than his debut in fact. There are great songs right through the album. From Strong, Millennium, to She’s the One, there are so many moods and highlights to be discovered! In their review of the album, this is what AllMusic had to say: “A more mature, calculated album from a pop star who's often gloried in being immature and spontaneous, I've Been Expecting You may suffer from comparisons to its excellent predecessor, but it also finds Robbie Williams weathering the sophomore storm quite well. While Williams' debut was infectious and outrageous, the second is indeed a more studied album. The opener, "Strong," begins very well, with the spot-on lyrics: "My breath smells of a thousand fags/And when I'm drunk I dance like me Dad," and "Early morning when I wake up/I look like Kiss but without the makeup." Many of the tracks on I've Been Expecting You show an undeniable growth, both in songwriting and in artistic expression; two of the highlights, "No Regrets" and "Phoenix From the Flames," are sensitive, unapologetically emotional songs that may not be as immediately catchy as those on his debut, but pack a greater punch down the road. Williams does indulge his sense of fun occasionally, playing up James Bond during the transcontinental hand-waver "Millennium" (which samples Nancy Sinatra's theme for You Only Live Twice), and simply roaring through "Win Some Lose Some" and "Jesus in a Camper Van”. No Regrets was released on 30th November, 1998 as the second single from I've Been Expecting You. This song is in particular about his time in (and departure from) his former band Take That. It is also about past relationships. The single reached number-four in the U.K. and it went on to sell over 200,000 copies, being certified Silver by the BPI. It must have been hard putting out a single about his time with Take That. There would have been critics compared Williams to the band; others who were noting his solo material was not quite as strong. That said, I think Williams’ material matched the best of Take That. No Regrets seems like a song that sees Williams comfortable with his decisions and enjoying no freedom and success. If you have been a bit hesitant to embrace Robbie Williams’ music in the past, I would say that I've Been Expecting You is a good album to get involved with. No Regrets is my favourite song from the album, as it is one of Williams’ best vocal performances and strongest set of lyrics. Written with Guy Chambers, No Regrets is one of the finest songs from the 1990s in my view. So many people dislike the song or feel that, as it is from Williams, it is a bit naff and lightweight. The fact he had Neil Hannon and Neil Tennant providing backing vocals shows that No Regrets is a strong song with plenty to appreciate – the two legendary artists add something wonderful on their brief turns. Rather than it being a guilty pleasure, No Regrets is a fantastic track that should be played more. Take a moment to set No Regrets aside and… GIVE it some time and love. https://www.musicmusingsandsuch.com/musicmu...iams-no-regrets
February 8, 20223 yr Author Memories from 98/99' gigs at Slane The one thing I am always to remember from Slane is that unfortunately people used to swim across the river to try to gain access to the venue because they did not have tickets & a couple of people drowned doing so, as a result gigs were cancelled for a couple of years & H & S got a bit stricter . In general I miss the days when people went to concerts without a care in the world , we need that back again in our lives 12 wonderful memories of THAT Robbie Williams Slane concert https://www.dailyedge.ie/robbie-williams-sl...051028-Oct2016/ Robbie Williams has said that playing at Slane in 1998 as a supporting act was one of the highlights of his career to date. https://www.independent.ie/entertainment/mu...s-35170502.html

February 10, 20223 yr I once had the entire Slane concert burned on DVD. the DVD does not work anymore and so I lost the concert :-(. But it must have been available at some point of time otherwise I could not have had it as I only became a fan long after Slane. What do you think? It is very quiet again also with Ayda. Are they flying into a vacation destination for his birthday?

The Biopic is being filmed in Melbourne beginning March so I guess the whole family will relocate over there for a few months while that is going on so that might be the reason Elisabeth. Australia have started opening their borders to International visitors so I guess it's full steam ahead now  I did nor remember seeing the Slane gig on DVD ( mine does not work anymore but I think you can get the DVD's converted ) , I have a few nice DVD's that I would not mind seeing again ....I even have one of Kanye West when he was 'normal' & it is brilliant
