I discovered this recently when a friend recommended it to me, it’s a motivating way of getting involved in virtual challenges and having the reward of a physical medal at the end of it. :winner:

I’ve chosen to do the 2022 Conqueror Challenge, which is described as follows;

The Conquer 2022 Virtual Challenge is the perfect challenge to set you off on the right foot and help you finish the year with a bang.

Here's how it works:

• You challenge yourself by setting a distance goal for 2022 – that you have to complete by 31 December 2022.
• To finish it you can walk, run, cycle, swim, row or do any other distance-based exercise.
• And once you've completed the challenge, you'll be the proud owner of an awesome finisher's medal!

Hopefully it,will really help me to achieve my fitness goals for this year, and of course lose weight in the process. ;)

I've not heard of that before! I know my dad did a 'walk 1000 miles' challenge last year, if I'm reading it correctly this sounds similar but you're not limited to walking?

Each challenge is very different, you can choose a challenge of your choice based on your preferred activity!

Ah interesting! Looking at the site now, there's quite an array of challenges with varying distances so suitable for everyone. I'm not convinced I'd want to fork out the money for the challenge (although I see they're planting trees for every person who signs up, good on them), I suppose my thing is that I walk to get out the house and the fact I'm using energy is just a side-effect of that. Although I can definitely see how it can motivate people to stay fit!
Surely most people are capable of googling the relevant distances and going from there. Not sure that's worth 50 quid a pop!!

Not disagreeing with you but when you consider the monthly cost of a gym membership, and plus your paying for the physical medal at the end which can be quite a desired object at the end. There are challenges costing much less that what you suggested though. It’s whatever you make of it I guess.

I've been getting sponsored ads for this for the past year (and now will probably get a lot more). I'm tempted to do the Flower Route Challenge because the medal for it looks absolutely class (it's a Mondrian inspired medal, complete with moving windmill), although the expense of it is slightly off-putting.
i’m setting myself to walk a million steps in february, was going to do it in Jan but covid killed me

All the best for that Lee! Certainly sounds like quite a challenge.

That sounds impossible in a month (even a shorter month at that) but good luck Lee! :)
