I wasn't expecting it too hold on but 'Pushin P' became Gunna first top 40 hit as the lead artist. The song features Future & Young Thug and is absolutely dreadful.

 

 

He also just released the Drake feature called 'P Power' a week later that advertised, that I'm sure will still do well.

 

Its rather minimal isn't it in terms of production. The rapping is quite quiet too and a bit mumbly in parts. All in all, almost like the Billie Eilish of hip hop I think. Its OK, certainly not unlistenable for me.

 

American rapper Gunna also enters new at 40 with Young Thug in tow, pushin’ P apparently. I have the same problem, it comes with ageing bladders, and it must be a theme as he first charted 4 years ago with Drip Too Hard and topped the charts in 2020 with Lemonade, which suggests to me there’s a fizzy issue going on. I’d see a doctor.

Album debuts at #1 in the US and Pushin P at #7

'pushin P' has to be one of the more baffling trap songs to become as popular as it has, I've listened to a few songs off this album and that's it's down there with the worst of those lol, it's mostly just boring (even the instrumental is pretty meh) but it takes a few lyrical detours into true WTF territory. But I guess it's because he has been somewhat successfully pushing the title as a viral catchphrase.

 

I enjoyed a couple of the singles off his last album (mainly 'SKYBOX' and 'DOLLAZ ON MY HEAD') but this era is mostly not doing much for me from what I've heard. Although I do really like the instrumental on the track with 21 Savage. And the lead single 'too easy' has grown on me quite a bit tbf, it has proven to be a bit of an earworm (it has some rather choice lyrics as well but I'd still much rather that be his actual hit rather than 'pushin P').

 

Also I'm not sure who approved the instrumental intro on that Drake track, it sounds absolutely awful lmao. Once the vocals start it just turns into another boring Gunna song with a particularly comatose Drake verse attached to it though.
