Posted January 14, 20223 yr Ariana Grande - Everyday (feat. Future) I'm slightly late but this week marks 5 years since 'Everyday' was pushed as the fourth and final single from Ariana's third studio album 'Dangerous Woman'! I usually accompany these anniversary threads with chart-runs but unfortunately 'Everyday' failed to crack the top 100 in the U.K. after three top 20 hits from the campaign. It actually followed her highest peaking hit of the era here, 'Side To Side'. The first two singles were solo but the second lot were armed with features, first Nicki Minaj and now Future. The two teamed up and worked with electropop, trap-hop, hip-hop and R&B influences. The song is unashamedly explicit with the (very catchy) hook "he give it to me every day" and the music video tries to keep up - with a constant stream of PDA. Ariana, sporting a fringe and space buns, takes on a laidback, comedic role with plenty of goofy dance moves. Future acts as the 'bad boy' who will fulfil Ari's desires. Their words collide with some seriously pounding synths. The song fared slightly better in the U.S. where it achieved a peak of #55 but again nothing to majorly write home about. The music video currently ranks 25th on her channel with 161 million views. How do you feel about 'Everyday' five years since it was officially declared a single? oHmBf4ExtZk
January 14, 20223 yr Author I'm a fan of 'Everyday' and think it holds up well 5 years on, but 'Dangerous Woman' was such a beast of an album that the 'what could've been' options for 4th single are frustrating  'Greedy', 'Be Alright', 'Thinking Bout You', 'Touch It'... WHAT. AN. ALBUM. *.* (it's my least favourite Ariana video oops but I do like her look in it at least)
January 15, 20223 yr I really liked 'Everyday' (it peaked at #3 on my personal chart) and still do, it was a bit of a wtf moment to end the era but I look back on it fondly - can't believe it's been 5 years! I enjoy the video mainly for the ridiculousness of it all  I guess Future was becoming a pretty big name at the time and that must be why it was picked as a single over some more obvious choices.

Annoyingly my chart was on a hiatus during the 'Dangerous Woman' era which is my favourite </3 but was active during every other one, even 'Popular Song' made it *.* True regarding the bit in bold! I think discussion at the time included Future, a rising rapper, being a good move for its Spotify chances. Sadly it wasn't to be!
January 18, 20223 yr I do like 'Everyday' but it was hard not to feel some sort of resentment towards the song at the time when it was chosen over 'Greedy' for fourth single. I really don't understand that decision, especially for an artist like Ariana who is very connected to her fans - she was clearly aware about the huge support behind 'Greedy'. It was the beginning of a trend that each era would see Ariana neglect a post-album release song the fans were really loving (it felt for a while that 'breathin'' would be slept on, there was no post-album singles from 'thank u, next' despite there being a handful of very strong contenders) and 'pov' was very neglected despite being a hit on TikTok). 5 years on and I think 'Everyday' does make a decent single in itself, I just wish it wasn't at the expense of 'Greedy' (and I agree with you Jade that your other picks are all album highlights that I prefer to 'Everyday').
January 18, 20223 yr I like it on the album but I'm still aghast they actually released it as a single, tainting what could have otherwise been a perfect era.
January 18, 20223 yr I really liked Everyday at the time (not so much now) but I think they left it too late and the video was tragic It also felt like Scooter/her label weren't that invested in the release. Everyday got a tiny push at radio compared the usual push Ariana singles get at radio (only scraped top 20 at pop). Also no TV and live performance promo which previous Dangerous Woman singles got a lot of.
February 26, 20223 yr Author @1497581760053485569 I see "should've been..." 'Greedy' or 'Touch It' comments in the replies so basically similar sentiments to here
