Posted January 22, 20223 yr Seems like it could be a close one in the album's chart this week! So here's a poll. I do think it will be close between Years & Years and Meat Loaf, though I think it's hard to say just how much Y&Y will drop from their last first week sales (which were 20.3k in 2018). Edit: I forgot to click save on the poll! Could a mod add one? The options I had in were: Adele, Ed Sheeran, Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell, Yard Act and Years & Years.
January 22, 20223 yr Poll added x Years & Years should be getting to #1 here, maybe with around 20k or so again (all the signed copies, bundles, eventual price reductions etc) hard to gauge how big Yard Act are, it wouldn't surprise me if they got as high as #2 but idk
January 22, 20223 yr Just joined, hi everyone Obviously Meat Loafs passing was very sad, but as a big fan of him, must say I've really enjoyed the respect been showed to him on here.
January 22, 20223 yr Really rooting for Meatloaf after the nasty tactics of Y&Y's label to add all their greatest hits to their album on Spotify to get fake album streams. Cheap cheap tactic that not even Mabel would use lol :D could also start a nasty tactic that hopefully other labels don't jump on... imagine if The Weeknd had added Blinding Lights to his Dawn FM album to get extra fake streams... or if Ed had added Shape of You to Equals...

I wonder will this be something we will see many others doing going forward, in a way i can understand they are trying to take advantage of streaming where they can but something like this could help artists who dont do well on streaming to in way gain streams they normally wouldn't get.
January 22, 20223 yr Author Yard Act have mentioned a ‘chart battle’ in their latest Instagram post, I’m quite interested to see their numbers! I think they could get up to 10k possibly by the end of the week, depends how hard they push.
January 22, 20223 yr I think Meat Loaf will easily get it, I would say poor Olly but the album is... not great.

I imagine they will have a lot of preorders added on the first day, prob no more than 8-10k tho but we shall see!

Presumably a rule to discount tracks that have been on previous albums was being discussed in the OCC offices this morning. I think we'll see the tactic used more if not
January 23, 20223 yr But will lack of stock be an issue for Meatloaf going to #1... I checked here yesterday in the biggest record store in Denmark and there were only very few copies and like 1 of each albums but I double any store has tons of the same old Meatloaf albums
January 23, 20223 yr Yeah amazon uk seems to be running out aswell, could be a restock by tomorrow, I'm sure Sony are keen to deliver.
January 24, 20223 yr Author The poll thus far: Adele [ 2 ] ** [4.65%] Ed Sheeran [ 2 ] ** [4.65%] Meat Loaf [ 25 ] ** [58.14%] Yard Act [ 1 ] ** [2.33%] Years & Years [ 13 ] ** [30.23%] Looks like the majority will be wrong! (I'll be quite happy if my single vote for Yard Act wins )
