February 6, 20223 yr Probably not considering the producers seem to be shopping it around and I think it'll be a Victoria Principal in Dallas situation where if they can't say it's 100% the end, she won't agree to appear.
February 6, 20223 yr Im slightly confused as some reports are saying its actually axed and others are saying negotiations are ongoing, neighbours itself from i can see haven't confirmed its axed, in all likely it probably will go but i think its sad if it does, i really cant see Kylie returning but never say never, Charlene is a legendary character and people who watched the show have great memories of her and the character is also well known outside of people who watched the show aswell. There is a danger a return could be disappointing but i think people would still like to see it happen, if Kylie does it im sure it will be on the basis that Jason also returns.
February 6, 20223 yr Author Channel 5 have axed it and as they contribute almost all the money it costs to make it, it’s safe to say it’s finished. The producer has confirmed filming ends in June.
February 6, 20223 yr Is there any chance another Channel will pick it up. It remains one of Channel 5 top rated shows. Channel 5 again axe a show that is their top rated, first Big Brother and now Neighbours.
February 6, 20223 yr I haven’t watched it for years but will be sad if it goes - it’s such an iconic show and still pulls in 1+ million viewers a day. From the reports it seems that C5 stump up the majority of the production cost but are not getting a return on investment from ad revenue. I really hope somebody else picks it up but it’s already done BBC and C5 - I’m not sure ITV or C4 would be interested so it could be taken over by a Sky etc channel but then they probably would want to cover the majority of the cost to produce it?
February 6, 20223 yr From one of the many media reports - Australian broadcaster Network 10 said it would look for a new partner to work with to keep it on air. The television network denied filming of the show - which began in 1985 - was being paused. February 6, 20223 yr A small bit of hope remains, i wonder would any of the main channels in the Uk even consider it as it does ok in the day time ratings, fingers crossed one of them comes through, its aired here in Ireland on both rte 1 and 2 so im assuming they pay channel 5 money to show it. Its stange really about the income situation as neighbours seems to have invested alot in new sets and using more location scenes aswell and from a cost point of view if the budget was in danger they could have opted to make savings in that aspect. I would expect many of the shows former starts to speak out just like Jason has, as it is an iconic show and i am sure down through the years it done alot for Australian tourism. February 6, 20223 yr I really can’t see ITV or C4 being interested? It’s an expensive show and if C5 can’t make a return on ad revenue then I’m not sure the others will be able to either. I’d hate to see it go though but it’s long been reported without the UK investment the show would have been over a long time ago - hopefully someone sees some value in it and can save it.

February 6, 20223 yr Author Gala Bingo were the Neighbours sponsor (Not sure if they still are). It’s Specsavers now. The ads for the show are great, old scenes featuring Madge, Harold etc with the Specsavers lady CGI’d in.

February 7, 20223 yr If Kylie returned I wonder would others like natalie imbruglia, delta goodrem also possibly return, I know they dont need kylie to return for their decision but it would be nice if a few big names came back along with kylie, of course kylie is the one we would all love to see, it's likely none of them will but stranger things have happened. It's a huge job loss for so many people working on the show unless a last second deal is struck.

February 7, 20223 yr Would love that to happen. Yes! Whilst not Kylie related the other ones I want back are the Kennedy children, Malcolm, Libby and Billy. Oh and Harold and Lou!
February 8, 20223 yr I've never watched Neighbours but it would definitely be a fantastic send off if they could get Kylie and Jason back - I notice that pretty much all articles talking about the axe uses Charlene and Scott's wedding day photo. I don't think it's likely though, Kylie's probably too busy and she's not even referred to the axe on her social media.
