'Last Thing On My Mind' - Great track, a true classic in their discography. It was something they needed after '5,6,7,8' to prove that they were more than a one-hit wonder and thankfully they delivered this rousing slice of pop heaven with a more substantial essence. This is also probably their most important track in their career as I bet many at the time written them off as a one-hit wonder after '5,6,7,8' - that didn't happen of course and this would kick start a career of amazing joyous classic pop anthems.

The Bananarama original was just okay, but was missing that special something that Steps version had (also that awful music video didn't help matters). Also while i'm a big fan of Bananarama as-well as they've got an amazing back catalogue of classic pop hits. However I don't find their version of this up there with some of their far greatest moments. Plus it didn't help that this came at a time when their chart success was all but over. That happens to a lot of acts who were massive in the 80's, yet couldn't sustain the hits in the 90's.

01.(01) Something in your eyes Glorious! This track fits them like a glove and I’m happy they kept it Steps with their comeback material. The video is simple though effective. Thoughts?

#22 Heartbreak in this city (feat. Michelle Visage)

I really enjoy this one! The song is everything that makes Steps (glorious and campy pop) without sounding dated. Loved this from the beginning and still do. Very smart to include Michelle. She actually fits in very well. The video is a bit random but I do love the start and the random appearance of Lisa in the video.

Why

-The nod to ‘5,6,7,8’ in the video.

-Michelle feature feels very natural.

-The classic Steps sound translated to nowadays.

Love this one, Michelle really did add to it too
'Heartbreak In This City' - Another great track & having Michelle Visage on it was a great choice as her vocals intertwines with the group smoothly (hell I didn't notice the difference at first). Playful, Fun, Glittery & Camp as hell, this is just a fantastic addition to their discography.

Amen!

I think the problem with LTOMM was that I heard it too much and HBITC feels a bit more ‘fresh’.

#21 will be an album track! Any guesses?

#21 Buzz

The first album track in this countdown! Out of the old albums Buzz is my favorite. Then we get to this song. It’s very cheesy and the lyrics are a bit simple. Still, I can’t resist when Faye starts with that first line…! I get a Bu-buzz of Buzz! #sorrynotsorry

Why?

-‘I see the way you act, like you’re nonchalant’

-The right kind of cheesy.

-The 90’s/Ace of Base vibe.

Not gonna lie I barely remember any of the classic album tracks only the singles 🤣 i’ll have to give this a re listen

That’s ok!

Loved Buzz (song) back in the day. Still like it now. You’re right, that opening line…

Yeah, glad you agree ^_^

I am laughing at the "great vibe / speedo" for LTOMM

:selena:

I think I’m going to announce the #20 as well today wich is another albums track.

Any guesses?

#20 Wasted tears

And here we find another album track! I loved their comeback and the ‘What the future holds pt. 2’ has been a firm favorite of mine. This song is all we need from Steps. Glorious pop in ‘21 without sounding dated/losing their original vibe. And, the remix is fun as well

Why?

-Glorious slice of campy pop.

-The Initial Talk remix.

-How Steps sound nowadays without losing their roots soundwise.
