Here it is on Spotify today! Two solid German bands. AnnenMayKantereit's lead singer's very very husky vocals are the main reason for this going viral.

Yes the Skream remix of 'In For The Kill' was definitely big in its own right, and deservedly so as it's far better than the original song. It has 28.8 million streams on Spotify (compared to the original being on 66.6 million) so it's not exactly been forgotten either. They tried to pull the same trick with 'Bulletproof' getting a remix by DJ Zinc but that one didn't quite take off in the same way.

 

AnnenMayKantereit's cover of 'Tom's Diner' has entered the top 200 today at #156. It's moved 200-100-69-49 since it debuted in the US a few days ago so could definitely see it gathering steam pretty quickly here as well. Oddly enough they've had a ton of charting songs on their native German Spotify over the years but this one was fairly low charting there only getting #150 on its original release, it's re-entered there at a new peak of #115 today. (edit: beaten to it x)

If anyone was wondering, they’re called AnnenMayKantereit as those are the three member’s surnames! (I was hoping for something more exciting than that :lol:)

Love 'Redbone' - quality track that deserved to be huge here at the time like it was in the US.

Didn't know the song, it's the first time I failed a Heardle after getting them all so far in 1 sec :/

 

PS oh that cover of Suzanne Vega's Tom Diner is very good, unconventional but very good, can see why it's going viral

'BMW' collapses again to #34, very natural and legit movement once more :thinking: It is now back to being higher on Apple than on Spotify, normality somewhat restored. Inb4 it rebounds to #3 tomorrow.

 

Have not previously been convinced that Heardle-featured songs climbing on Spotify was anything more than a coincidence but that must be the reason for 'Redbone' entering surely, that hasn't been a regular fixture in the UK Spotify chart since 2018! I remember my initial reaction the first time I heard it was just confusion as it's so different from everything else I knew by Gambino :lol: but it is a great song and a shame it never made the top 40 here. It's the biggest climber today on US Spotify as well.

compared to the US, I'm also surprised at Nirvana-Something in the way,

in the UK it's been impacting but low top 40 so far

but in the US it's been doing incredibly well, #2 again today

I don't often bother looking at Hot Hits UK but having a quick glance at it now, curious to see Dave as low as #9 on there (and it's not like it's only so low because of being a recent release, as the even more recently released Aitch/Ashanti is up at #2). Makes his sustained massive numbers all the more impressive.

 

edit: that was looking at the embedded version in the OP anyway, which I've just realised is lagging a little bit - it's been moved up to #4 now with Aitch moved to #1.
