March 10, 20224 yr I’d totally be here for some Dave and Ed Sheeran beef. Ed must be fuming that he’s been sat at number two for all this time. But he’ll probably not start cos Dave would destroy him.
March 10, 20224 yr I doubt there'd be any beef. After the release of '=', Ed said that Dave (and Stormzy) are the only musicians that 'root for him'. And they collabed on 'Nothing On You' for No.6 in 2019.
March 10, 20224 yr Poor Ed is probably too busy being sued in court for plagiarism to sign more CDs. Sad for him. Edited March 10, 20224 yr by Rob
March 10, 20224 yr for what song is he being accused of plagiarism? https://news.sky.com/story/ed-sheeran-copyr...ip-off-12557215 Does anyone know how many plagiarism lawsuits he's racked up now? It must be in double figures surely.
March 10, 20224 yr I really do think that lawsuit is very tenuous, it hardly sounds like SOY and it’s quite a generic moment that does.
March 10, 20224 yr I guess the more popular you become, the more people are gonna give it a try and go after a writing credit its the same now with Dua Lipa, getting a bunch of lawsuits too and some are hard to believe when the song in question has like 100 streams on soundcloud The funny thing is that a while ago I read Ed has a team of musicologists on payroll that revise every song he writes just to avoid lawsuits and they modify his songs on purpose, just transposing 1 chord down, like from Em to Dm, guess they're npt doing a very good job if he still gets sued:D haven't heard this one song they say it's similar to SOY but never got the similarity with No Scrubs but I remember he was also sued cos of Photograph was similar to some Matt Cardle song I think, which was 100% identical
March 10, 20224 yr He NEEDS that team because all he does is rip off other people's songs for his cheese slices!!! Fakest, most disingenuous and heesiest act since Westshite, and people have fallen for his act!!! I hate the slab of cheese and all its cheese slices.
March 10, 20224 yr Didn't he pay Matt (or the person who wrote the song) like 5 million? If you are innocent you don't do that... The problem is that almost ALL Ed's singles at least remind people of something. Even though it might not be intentional, he is on very thin ice almost every time. Bad Habits has almost identical parts of Smalltown Boy (or Cry for You) but I think he hasn't been sued - yet. Edited March 10, 20224 yr by Sour Candy
March 10, 20224 yr This latest 'Shape Of You' lawsuit is a pretty laughably obvious cash grab. I do think there may have been something to the Matt Cardle one though. The 'Blurred Lines' situation has kind of discredited the legitimacy of most of these copyright lawsuits in my eyes to be honest.
March 10, 20224 yr Returning to the album chart now, if you live in London and see a black taxi cab with the Marillion album artwork on it, you can get a free ride to anywhere in the capital if you give the driver the password when you get in. If you want to know what the password is, have a look at this article: https://melodymakermagazine.com/2022/03/06/...mote-new-album/

Bad Habits has almost identical parts of Smalltown Boy (or Cry for You) but I think he hasn't been sued - yet. This is what co-writer Johnny McDaid said about the Matt Cardle lawsuit in court the other day: In court on Wednesday, the songwriter was questioned further about the Photograph case, in which he and Sheeran were accused of copying a song called Amazing by X Factor winner Matt Cardle. McDaid emphasised he only paid a "proportion" of the £4m settlement, which he said was reached under legal advice. "It was not settled because we believed that we had copied Amazing in any way," he said in his written evidence. At the time, he added, there was "a culture" of US copyright trials which "really wasn't going favourably for songwriters at all" - presumably a reference to the controversial Blurred Lines case, where Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams were found guilty of copying the "feel" of Marvin Gaye's Got To Give It Up, rather than directly plagiarising musical phrases or lyrics.
March 10, 20224 yr The "Blurred Lines" verdict is genuinely one of the worst things to ever happen to music in the last decade.
March 10, 20224 yr Thr Katy Perry Dark Horse one was worse. The jury sympathised with a Cheistian rock band, but their song wasn't even REMOTELY similar.

Shame I haven't got any upcoming visits to London.
March 10, 20224 yr Thr Katy Perry Dark Horse one was worse. The jury sympathised with a Cheistian rock band, but their song wasn't even REMOTELY similar. Yeah that one's not great but at least the judge overturned it anyway.
March 10, 20224 yr The funny thing is that a while ago I read Ed has a team of musicologists on payroll that revise every song he writes just to avoid lawsuits and they modify his songs on purpose, just transposing 1 chord down, like from Em to Dm, guess they're npt doing a very good job if he still gets sued:D But Cheesy Fad defenders now defending the Cheesy Fad by harping on about him having a MUSICOLOGY team to avoid plagiarism, I just can't!!! Being the only act with a musicology team on payroll is NOT A GOOD THING!!! Cheesy Fad is the musical equivalent of the industrial revolution smoke-stack chimneys!!!! Pure cheddar POLLUTION!!!! No wonder every Cheesy Fad supporting nation is officially getting fatter, what with how calorie dense cheese is, pumping it straight into their ear lobe veins like vodka through the eye!!!!! And people reward ha cheese, chart manipulations and general musical underhandedness by making him twice as big as Adele! Oh my household gods!!!! Give me STRENGTH!!!!! :cheeseblock: Cheesy Fad is an absolute smokes salesman - INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION strength!! He is so OBSESSED with charts, so manufactured, and so busy being inauthentic by preening and pruning and overproducing ha songs to an inch of their lives to be radio cannon fodder, that he needs an actual team of MUSICOLOGISTS to edit ha songs JUST ENOUGH to not get done for plagiarising them!! "Change this or that note and you might get away with it". Give me STRENGTH!!!! :cheeseblock:
March 10, 20224 yr Give me STRENGTH!!!! :cheeseblock: No. Give ME strength for having to read your continually tiresome Ed-bashing posts. Edited March 10, 20224 yr by Mangø
March 10, 20224 yr Hi Martin Thank you for your email The Family Madrigal has been excluded by request of the releasing label, as they have moved onto marketing the next single and want that to appear in the Official Singles Chart Many thanks Chris Chris Austin Operations Director (he/him) Source: OCC Guess we know the answer now. :P
March 10, 20224 yr Bad Habits has almost identical parts of Smalltown Boy (or Cry for You) but I think he hasn't been sued - yet. I think that's definitely coming, I knew from the moment I first heard the song. He was described in court earlier this week as a music "magpie" who borrows ideas from other artists but only credits them if they're hugely successful, and to be fair I'm willing to believe there are grains of truth in that. I guess we'll see what the outcome is of this case, though.
