Yeah it was a pretty standard week, but definitely still very watchable. I've enjoyed everything with The Slaters this week.

Here's what we have to look forward to over the coming weeks:

Monday's episode will take place on Mother's Day.

More Emma drama and more Slater money issues.

Ravi upping the anti against Denise.

A "big" announcement from Patrick (rumours online say he's off on a break but may return with Yolande...)

Games night results in a surprise visitor (likely to be Rocky's ex).

More Mitchell rigmarole as Ben attempts to impress Phil (worst spoiler ever?)

A Sam and Alfie heart-to-heart.

Keanu gives Karen an ultimatum (ugh more Sharon stuff probably).

None of that seems overly thrilling tbh though I’d love

Yolande back

The Slater money issues is giving me Bianca cutting up fish fingers teas. I’m not quite sure how a family with only 3 children and 6 working adults, and money coming in from 2 other adults, is struggling this badly even in the current cost of living crisis. At the very least, with that much income, the rent should be ok. And it’s the usual frustrating, Stacey refusing help from wealthy family because of ‘pride’, not yet even referenced going to a food bank or raising her own prices (50p for a cup of tea, it’s amazing she hasn’t put Kathy out of business yet) it’s just all so cliched. And why is not one other member of the household bothered by these issues? It feels like they’re using Freddie to rub Stacey’s face in it but it just feels weird and random and it doesn’t help that the acting there hasn’t improved at all.

That Stacey money story, AND child pregnancy story for that matter, is thr absolute pits.
Freddie is really a nothing character. The stacey money storyline doesn't do much for me, as others said it doesn't make sense that with them all they can't earn enough to keep the bills paid.

Or that she rejects help from Kat, when Kat will be living with them again in a few months :lol She certainly didn't reject Phil's money when they stole it!!

Besides, why did she get upset with Kath when Kath said: I've BEEN there. Past tense. She's not saying she doesn't have money when she's with Phil

Ugh, not another Whitney ‘you’re not good enough for me’ storyline. Talk about rinse and repeat.
Whitney is very much rinse and repeat and she is a character I can never fully get behind, shona isn't a bad actress at all but I think I'm just tired of whitney.

I liked the way they handled the Whitney/Zack HIV revelation.

To begin with it looked like she was just going to push him aside and be very narrow-minded, but then she did her research and realised it wasn't the end of the world situation she initially thought.

It's the way a lot of people would probably react and then once they had been educated they are more likely to come round.

It would be good to see Whitney get that happiness so many people have wanted for her, and to show that a HIV diagnosis wasn't the "life alone" Zack thought it was.

The scene with Whitenay and Zack was nice in the Vic where they talked it through although both characters are a bit meh for me.

Apart from the end, which we have been expecting... few observations about tonights ep...

How current is the Vic's jukebox... I Wrote a Song by Mae Muller getting some play!!

Couple of innuendos...

Alfie telling Rhys it wouldn't be long before he would "take [sonia] up the aisle"; and then

Sam telling Keanu she could "suck on the end of a pencil" if he liked!

I'm not sure if I Wrote A Song was forcefully laid over the top of that scene, it definitely felt 'louder' but they do like to feature the Eurovision tracks
According to the Eastenders socials there will be an announcement today, (probably on 8PM after the ep aired on BBC One)

Could it be a Little Mo return?

I would love this! Definitely needs to happen and I suspect it will do soon enough. I'm going to say it's to do with the Ray Winestone rumours that were circling last month.

Interesting! Looking forward to having new blood in the Vic and it's a great way to keep Linda integrated (though I wonder how Shirley will fit in, if at all, when she eventually returns?)

So it was true that Molly Rainford would be joining the cast (was rumoured she was going to play Ray Winestone's character's daughter, so maybe he was initially meant to play the role of George Knight). Couple of big names with Harriet Thorpe (from Absolutely Fabulous) and Colin Salmon (from the Pierce Brosnan Bond films). I really liked Maria Friedman in the role of Elaine Peacock so remains to be seen if Harriet can settle in the role.

Maria Friedman wasn’t available cause she’s on broadway currently also she doesn’t want to commit on EE for for a long term that’s why Elaine got recasted.

So EastEnders announces a new family and gives away a plot spoiler at the same time.

I know it's not a big plotline, but surely there was a way to reveal this family but not say who they are, how they arrive and what they're going to do when they get there?

How would they say who they are without mentioning Elaine? As soon as she is mentioned, we’d know why they’re joining. The Carter extension ten years ago was announced in advance so I don’t see why this getting the same treatment is a big deal.
Maria Friedman played the role of Elaine very well but as she wasn't a regular or hasn't been on the show for a long time ut will make it easier for Harriet to make the role her own.
