We will be looking at each Gaga era over the next few weeks and letting YOU become a Little Manager! In this thread, discuss how you would've managed the era. Which singles would you have released, what songs would've received music videos, any promo opportunities you could utilise? Think as widely or as briefly as you wish!

What would be your ideal singles run for this era?

Here is how Gaga's team did it:

1st single: Perfect Illusion

2nd single: Million Reasons*

3rd single: Joanne (Piano Version)

Promo singles: A-Yo

Music videos: John Wayne

*Million Reasons was initially a promo single

Would you have done anything differently?

The Fame era

The Fame Monster era

Born This Way era

ARTPOP era

I'd love to hear from someone that actually think Perfect Illusion was the right lead single. Even if it's your favourite song in the world, it in NO WAY reflects the Joanne album sonically or lyrically and it is so jarring and divisive - argue your case but I can't see my view on this shifting.

I have to say that it's either first single or not a single at all. It screams for attention. I think A-Yo and PI are the only potential first singles - Dancin' in Circles at stretch perhaps.

I love 'Perfect Illusion' a lot, but I can see exactly why it wasn't a hit. But to be honest I think at this point she was done for and and her reputation among the GP was in tatters. It doesn't really matter what was chosen, I doubt the outcome would have been much different. She needed ASIB to rebuild her again.
Absolutely - ARTPOP killed her career, especially with Applause as first single, and Born This Way ahd already done a LOT of damage to ir, with hoe cheesy it was and the wrong singles choices.

ALICE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST SINGLE YOU HO!!!

And as for THIS mess of an era, Diamond Heart or A-Yo ... Heeeere We Go! should have been the first single, although I do see an argument for Million Reasons kicking it off, a la Being A Boy, by Beyonce, with a FULL course correction following the two cheesy dance albums.

While I love Diamond Heart, it's pretty much similar to Alice - perfect fourth single in Meekul universe.

True but in terms of introducing an era it does the job perfectly. Lyrically it's about being strong in the face of heartbreak or pain and it's patriotic/about the power of family/self which is just what the album is about at heart. It's also why it works so well as an album and tour opener!

01. A-Yo

02. Million Reasons

-Album Release-

03. John Wayne

I’m not saying A-Yo would have done much better as a lead single but it feels more radio friendly and a better introduction for the theme of the era. It might have made people appreciate more what she was doing rather than the very in your face Perfect Illusion. A proper push for Million Reasons would be better to sell the album and then John Wayne is a bit more classic Gaga.
