![]() We will be looking at each Gaga era over the next few weeks and letting YOU become a Little Manager! In this thread, discuss how you would've managed the era. Which singles would you have released, what songs would've received music videos, any promo opportunities you could utilise? Think as widely or as briefly as you wish! What would be your ideal singles run for this era? Here is how Gaga's team did it: 1st single: Applause 2nd single: Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly) 3rd single: G.U.Y. Promo singles: Venus, Dope Would you have done anything differently? The Fame era The Fame Monster era Born This Way era |

The first thing would be to make a different album, and to release that instead x
ARTPOP was a promo single for the truly atrocious GUY. |

I’d release Sexxx Dreams as the lead single with this one.
I’d release promo singles as MANICURE and release a music video for the title track but just a music video not a single push. Follow that up with Gypsy as the second single with a big push around Q4. Release the album in around October time and drop the music video for Gypsy the same day as the album release with an X Factor Performance and some chat show performances done after the album release (the UK schedule was kinda odd that we got a lot of the big events before the album was released especially the X Factor one wasn’t Do What U want unable to chart as well at that time). Applause as the third single from the album (I personally love it and I think the VMAs performance was incredible. Set the music video slightly more like that push that early in 2014 with Brits and GRAMMY slots) Part of me wants to include Do What U Want in the singles choices but given what happened and the real life events I’m gonna leave that one out there. I do still love the song though even the version what was released as a single ![]() Gypsy isn’t necessarily one of my favourites tbh but her team were crazy to not give that a single push. I think it could’ve performed similarly to Edge of Glory and it definitely would’ve helped album sales more than any other track. If the album was to be released in the present day Jewels and Drugs would probably become a streaming smash ![]() This post has been edited by Jord: 28th February 2022, 08:15 PM |

Aura not being an official promo single when it was used to promote Machete Kills was a CRIME

Agreed about Aura - it should've been a full scale promo single and got the promo Venus got (more on that to come in my full post when I think it up).

Well...
1. Sexxx Dreams (verses slightly amended maybe) 2. Do What U Want (with a different feature and a video) 3. I Wanna Be With You (it's stunning in its original form, could have sold the album over Christmas) 4. Gypsy (feels like a perfect way to close the era on) I guarantee that would have been a far more successful and salvageable era than the mess we got overall. |

1. Applause
2. DWUW feat. R. Kelly 3. G.U.Y. Promo: Venus, Dope They picked the right singles. Problems of the era and how they would have been solved: 1. This should have been the album cover, not that mess: ![]() I had this image in my head for weeks. It would have made the album sell a lot more with that cover alone, just stunning. 2. Applause: she should have released this song in July and not in August, everything was ready, I don't know what she was waiting for. With a month of airplay built in, she could have rivaled the top of the Hot 100 with Katy. The problem with Applause was that broadcasters played more who paid more. When Applause hit the radio for good after a second wave due to the song being used in a KIA commercial, it was too late for Applause to challenge for the top spot. 3. DWUW: She definitely should have released that video, radio was just waiting for this video to come out to take this song to #1 on the Hot 100, I just know that. 4. G.U.Y.: she shouldn't have waited 5 months to release this single and she should also have released the short version of the video first instead of having tired the audience by releasing that 12 minute video (did she learn anything from Marry The night?!). She killed this single before it was even born. 5. She shouldn't have gone back to the studio to re-record vocals and mess with an album that was already done. The drop in quality from the iTunes Festival versions of the songs to the album versions was huge. 6. She should have paid less attention to the haters and more attention to actually promoting the album. 7. She shouldn't have fired Troy Carter, I bet she regrets it to this day even if she denies it. |

Some amazing eras so far!
Really interested to see how DWUW is treated by people given everything that happened since! It is undeniably THE smash on the album so it's an odd one to try and incorporate retrospectively ![]() |

Maybe they could've got someone like Miguel instead of R Kelly to feature on it?

3. DWUW: She definitely should have released that video, radio was just waiting for this video to come out to take this song to #1 on the Hot 100, I just know that. That video would have caused more problems for her career — especially down the line — than it would have helped. Absolutely the right call to scrap it. |

1. GYPST
Best song by FAR. Lead with it, release a few weeks after Katy Perry's Roar, and get a no.1. In fact, to fool the leakers, SAY Applause is the first single, and let it leak. It will serve as a buzz single, no pop emergency required. 2. DWUW With another feature. I don't k ow what she was thinking working with R. Kelley anyway. She could have even used Juicy J or Jay Z as her mid 2010s rapper!! Have a great video, but not that video. --ALBUM RELEASE.-- 3. Sexx Dreams Keep the chorus, but my god the ENTIRE verse structure and sound needs to be dealt with and completely changed and revamped. The lyrics could do with tightening up in the verses, too. Now we start to enter the wind-down campaign of the album. 4. ARTPOP single A gentle, avant guarde, left of centre pop bop, which really IS like something that Madonna would do, but without being reductive like the BTW Steps/Madonna album. 5. I Wanna Be With You End the era with a ballad, which usually help with album sales anyway, and job's done. 6. Applause And if she wanted to do a tour video release, do Applause at the end. Seeing as it is on GTA V pop radio, maybe do this. Promo singles: Applause leaked Aura with Machete G.U.Y before album release I can guarantee that, like that, the anablum woohoo ne a much bigger hit, amd FAR less messy. |

Make it a double album (Act 1 and Act 2).
Joint first singles: Jewels N Drugs (Act 1) and I Wanna Be With You (Act 2) No other singles. There, you have it |
