My ReviewNow That’s What I Call Music! 103 also known as Now 103 was the album of the Summer for 2019, containing a series record 48 tracks and 4 UK #1 singles from the era. The album contained four tracks originally from the third volume in the series at the end of Disc 2. It was also on this volume that we were introduced to artists like Billie Eilish, MEDUZA and Sam Fender.

 

The main striking omissions were a couple of duets from Ed Sheeran's album, including the wonder duet with Justin Bieber which was a pop hit of the year and also a #1 as well as another #1 with Khalid. Instead, another track from Ed Sheeran was used. Other artists overlooked included Taylor Swift, Dave, Post Malone, MoStack, Ava Max, The RSPB and others.

 

This volume is the only one so far to feature music from Madison Beer, Steel Banglez, Taron Egerton, Dominic Fike and Himesh Patel.

 

Artwork Rating: 5/10 Good

Not really anything too special about this volume's artwork. Just a typical summer concept with sunshine, oceans and palm trees in the background and silky patterns in the foreground around the logo. It's average at best.

 

Disc 1 Favourite: Sigala & Becky Hill – Wish You Well

A breezy summer anthem with the wonderful vocals from Becky Hill, and one of her best dance features to date. A fine single for Sigala to produce. All Day And Night was definitely a close second.

 

Disc 2 Favourite: Avicii – Heaven

Uncredited vocals from Chris Martin of Coldplay, this was Avicii's last time inside the UK Top 40 and it is a big highlight from hit album too. Nice to see two of his songs make this compilation.

Overall Rating: 6/10 Very Good

A lot of what I would want to see included at the time was indeed featured on this compilation, so there are little complaints there, though I would surely have rated higher if the likes of Ava Max, Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber and Mark Ronson featuring Lykke Li were all added. There are quite a lot of "DNC" tracks on this volume too which is usually a negative sign, especially when songs nobody wanted including the pointless 1:33 track by Himish Patel just to make up the numbers.

This is an ok edition, I rated it 6/10 overall, with 7/10 for the artwork. My favourite on Disc 1 is easily Never Really Over by Katy Perry <3

 

Disc 2 is very slim pickings but I went for Kylie's New York City.

 

There are certainly some choices on here - Yesterday, My Salvation, two songs by Taron Egerton?
