Welcome to the ACR Status Updates thread! This is where you can find out the current streaming ratios of the songs in the official top 100. Please note - I don't receive information every single week, so if no thread materialises, there's no use nagging me - it means I genuinely don't know the status of any songs! Updates can also materialise at any point over the weekend but I'll always try to ensure I do it before the First Look chart update if I receive the necessary information.

If you're wondering what ACR and SCR are, here's a quick reminder:

SCR = Standard Chart Ratio. All songs enter the chart on SCR, which means their streams count at the following ratios:

100 premium streams = 1 sale (e.g. a premium Spotify account, Apple Music, Tidal, etc)

600 ad-funded streams = 1 sale (e.g. free Spotify, YouTube, etc)

ACR = Accelerated Chart Ratio. Once a song has charted for at least 10 weeks, and declines in streams for three consecutive weeks, it is put onto ACR. This means its streams are HALVED, and count at the following ratios:

200 premium streams = 1 sale

1200 ad-funded streams = 1 sale

Songs older than 3 years old are automatically on ACR.

The terminology used in this thread will be the official terminology used by the OCC. The explanations are posted in each update to assist you.

Out of the two songs on DCL-2, I hope Em Beihold can avoid ACR and that Acraze gets caught on ACR
Do It To It has long overstayed its reset like 2 months ago now and Numb Little Bug is definitely fading naturally so I'm not too upset at either possibly going on ACR next week even though both are great songs. What does upset me is the amount of "old" songs on 0 Week Declines right now. Down Under, MMFG and Peru have already been torn into at this point but Where Did You Go?, House On Fire, BMW, Anyone For You (Tiger Lily) and The Motto all also avoiding too despite the latter 4 obviously having peaked at Where Did You Go? likely has too. f*** this chart year the fact that Starlight which feels so recent to me will probably hit ACR before all of the ones I listed above is appalling.

Lmao no end in sight for 'Peru' and others in the top 10 if they are in SCR again :')

I think OCC will have to inject another rule to long running songs that have long past peaked to dodge the 3 week decline and get shunted to ACR straight away as they'll never go otherwise if they keep yoyoing with 1 week decline and then increase to jump back to SCR again.

ACR's been a thing for almost 5 years now and I've never known so many songs simultaneously dodging it, it's a system that works most of the time but it's not helping by songs taking ages to peak mixed with others dodging every few weeks thanks to a little bit of sunshine. Plus a general slower pace with music this year, as evidenced in other charts around the world where ACR isn't in play.

The fact that Peru, down under and MMFG are all on 0 weeks of decline is ridiculous

I can say that I loved all 3 songs when they peaked (January - February time for most) but now I’m just sick of them, and I can’t see them declining for 3 consecutive weeks for a while yet!

Thanks for the update Joseph. 16 current Top 40 songs (40% of it) are on SCR, older than 6 weeks but on zero weeks of decline, compared to just 6 such songs on any weeks of decline - that's quite an imbalance.
Yeah I think if this is starting to become a new norm we are probably in need of some rejigging of the specifics of the rules - before the last few months this kind of thing did happen occasionally but not to the point that it felt like the entire point of the rule was being undermined, but it does seem to be moving closer to that now.

RIP Nimb Little Bug - it’s well down in the mids.

I expect we’ll get a lot of declines this week but next week who knows with the bank holiday.

One thing I notice more is the lack of new entries each week 2 to 4 is practically the norm these days, when you think back to the days of 7+ each week, many moons ago. I just think more artists need to act and release new material. And it also boils down to peoples' music taste, as the older you get you become interested in other things than music. lol

Also just spotted The Goo Goo Dolls - Iris in first group of songs that are in it's first 6 weeks :kink: that's a new song there.. from 1999 :P

I just think it’s because of a lack of new music this year I really do. I wish the above songs would go to acr but if they are continually popular and increase then why should they people who are bored of them can’t be the judge of when they’ve been top 10 long enough and are shunted down the chart peoples listening habits have to dictate it. Throughout chart history there’s been loads of examples of songs that never went away and nowadays it’s no different except that streaming makes it more likely to happen. If there was more new songs or other new songs would do better then the problem would occur but they aren’t!

I'm not a fan but Starlight going before all those ANCIENT songs feels wrong.

Agreed. That and ‘Reggae and Calypso’ which sounds quite fresh but already on 1 week decline.

It is rather annoying that those songs are going to continue clogging up the top of the chart.

However I think it’s more of a problem with lack of new/exciting releases than a fault with ACR. Look at the top 4 now, As It Was, Baby, First Class and Starlight all easily debuted in the top 2. It might just be me, but even a few years ago it felt like there were exciting releases every few weeks, now we’re lucky to even get one a month.
