March 21, 20241 yr no Doctor has a flawless era, except perhaps Eccleston x) I dunno, those Slitheen episodes are awful. And Love & Monsters That's basically a quarter of his run.
March 21, 20241 yr I dunno, those Slitheen episodes are awful. And Love & Monsters That's basically a quarter of his run. Love & Monsters was Tennant's era...! (definitely not a fave of mine) I enjoy the Slitheen episodes a lot - Aliens of London is a strong two-parter (farting aside x) that I've always found gripping and well-paced, and Boom Town's grown on me a lot over the years, one of the best episodes for character moments in the entirety of New Who even if it's obviously a "filler" budget episode. The Long Game is the low point of Eccleston's era for me, but even that is perfectly serviceable as a monster-of-the-week episode (without considering how it sets up the finale)

March 21, 20241 yr I'm curious to know what changed, as only a couple of years ago you were very positive about RTD's return - Did you see the cheese of the last two episodes1?? Plus MORE BACKSTAGE FIGHTING, after 8 said he'd neeever come back till he was gone because of the backstage drama... Moffat is much better.

Moffat is much better. I did and I didn't like them either, it's just quite the sudden turn around from your previous stance. Can't say I blame you. When you say 8 I'm guessing you mean 9 though
March 21, 20241 yr Yeah, I keep getting them all mixed up atm , after watching one with the war doctor and getting confused I think RTD was geeat for when i4 first came back, but he has glaring weaknesses, snd is the worst possible choice to helm the show with Disney execs on his back. It just leads back into morr and more cheese
March 22, 20241 yr xhL5ihOUUcs That trailer has my excitement at such a high  cannot WAIT for it to start!!
March 30, 20241 yr All 8 episode titles being announced tomorrow (this is the moment I’ve been waiting for :cheeseblock:) and a “brand new” trailer… likely the Disney+ one but with some variations?
March 31, 20241 yr 1. Space Babies by Russell T Davies 2. The Devil's Chord by Russell T Davies 3. Boom by Steven Moffat 4. 73 Yards by Russell T Davies 5. Dot and Bubble by Russell T Davies 6. Rogue by Kate Herron & Briony Redman 7. The Legend of Ruby Sunday by Russell T Davies 8. Empire of Death by Russell T Davies Contender for quite possibly the strangest (or at least vague and unique!) set of episode titles we've had in a series? Kinda gutted there's not more guest writers, but I'll let RTD off seeing as it's the first series of a new era and he'll be establishing the characters, tone, etc.
March 31, 20241 yr We alrrady know the tone. It's the doctor as a brand new character, going clubbing and wearing fashionable clothes and being sociable/ having high social skills, with absolutely zero trauma, with a big Disney budget ... and Disneyfied, super cheesy storylines. Just looks like generic Disney sci fi. They've basically reset the show, as Disney wanted it to be simplified as a starting point for global viewers, which for me defeats the purpose of Doctor Who. The Doctor IS his/ her trauma and past. Doctor Who has always been a BIT cheesy, but not super juvenile. Because of the reset, all other characters are gone ' Rover, any past companions, Jack Barrowman, all gone. It's a blank slate for Disney, which means you need to expect so so sooo much cheese.
March 31, 20241 yr Yes, everyone is gone and they’re forgetting the past which is why Bonnie Langford is featuring in the next series x
April 1, 20241 yr Well that trailer hasn't inspired me with any confidence, and my initial feeling is I may struggle to like this particular Doctor. These brief clips give me the impression he's more than a bit in love with himself with little else going on, and the one serious line - 'silly little battlefield' (Moffat for sure) felt very unconvincing. However, it's all out of context so far so I'm not rushing to judge. I did think Gatwa was very good in Masters of the Air, the only other role I've seen (aside from Barbie which I don't remember him in) so I'm not doubting his ability. Not yet anyway.

April 17, 20241 yr What happened to RTD?! Major, major cheese aside, he was aleaya at least competent. Now he says his seasons with 15 are ALL ABOUT THE TIMELESS CHILD!!! So we have cheese on top of cheese, an unlikeably arrogant doctor, unlikeably arrogant companion from Corrie, and the worst story change OF ALL TIME that will take centre stage. They should just axe it and bring it back in a coiple decades, starting drom TWELVE'S regeneration. Timeless Child shir makes no sense ans removes any and all tension, as the timeless child can never be killed. Ever.
April 17, 20241 yr I doubt it'll be "all about" the Timeless Child, just that it'll be a theme running in the background - which is surely a good thing? Let's make something out of this storyline rather than abandoning it like Chibnall effectively did in the end. RTD knows how to write a story arc, it won't be totally all-consuming especially when he has to bear in mind this is a soft reboot with a potential new audience from Disney+ tuning in, but I'm sure it'll affect how Ncuti's Doctor reacts to various events and moments and deliver some great character moments. I've seen nothing to suggest 15 nor Ruby are arrogant so I don't really get that critique. And it's officially confirmed Millie Gibson will be featuring in series 15 and the Doctor will have both Ruby and Varada Sethu's new character as companions, so that puts paid to the ridiculous rumours of Millie being axed or any bad behaviour on set.

Timeless Child shir makes no sense ans removes any and all tension, as the timeless child can never be killed. Ever. That is... literally not what he said at all. He said Ruby's story is similar in ways to the Timeless Child, and that it's not something he'll cast aside and ignore. Whether the Timeless Child storyline was well received or not, I think it's great that RTD's actually throwing Chibnall a bone and building on it some more. Sure, it's easier to ignore a previous showrunner's work, but if the ideas are there and he can make it more palatable for those fans that totally disengaged with it, then why not lol?
April 25, 20241 yr Paul Forman - aka the only tolerable thing about Emily in Paris - confirmed to be appearing in Rogue (episode 6) :cheeseblock:
May 11, 20241 yr Weird, Disney+ advertising is as a “Three Episode Premiere” with the Xmas Special as Episode 1. But then that same episode is listed separately as 2023 Special 4 elsewhere on the app
May 12, 20241 yr Putting this here to avoid separate posts that say more or less the same thing in the episode threads  2.5m for Space Babies and 2.3m for The Devil's Chord on overnight ratings last night. Obviously lower than we'd expect for Doctor Who but iPlayer figures are *not* included and the early release has clearly had an impact. Next week's +7 figures will show a more complete picture. Legend of the Sea Devils remains the lowest overnight ever: 2.2m, but without the caveat of an early iPlayer release. In summary: nothing to panic about x

Personally I haven't watched and have no intention to do so any time soon and I know I'm not alone. Thankfully we've got enough old Who on Iplayer to keep me going for a few more months at least. Personally I think they should have aired it during the winter rather than in late spring/early summer and it might have done better.
