May 11, 20223 yr Author 43/56 Persephonia Good evening, thank you to Altyr Muunilinst for hosting us once again and here are the final votes for BJSC 144 from Persephonia :jump: Trifoski would have been our 18 easily if they had qualified but as the voters made the mistake of kicking that out, it's a lucky day for Greenfroze who capitalise on that to get our top marks for the first time ever after so many years of us participating together with their thoroughly off the wall Japanese banger. That screech note tho! This in fact marks their very first appearance in our medal positions as their previous high water mark was 12 points for SOFI TUKKER in BJSC 115, massively overdue for such a veteran country (albeit one that we don't often have much musical overlap with to be fair). Land of DW are a slightly more familiar face in the top 3 as their hypnotising electronic track (which we are very relieved made it out of semi 1, the only one of our initial top 5 of that semi to do so) takes 15 points, this is their fourth medal position finish for us after a gold for Cream Soda in BJSC 126 plus two previous silvers. Pestolia may have only been here for about 5 seconds but their glorious dark electronic rock offering lands our 13 points and that's already their second medal position for us from just 3 finalists, matching the bronze we gave to Mareux in BJSC 141. Rounding out the top 5 are a couple more electronic tracks from two all time faves (who seem to finish next to each other in our rankings all the time, often as our top 2 #blocvoting), 12 to Skall and 11 to Jadakissnia. With an infectious spoken word synth banger from one of my former Club Bizarre artists, Summericia get our 10 points, and it's all various flavours of dance and electronic music in the remainder of the top 10 too, 9 points to the ever consistent Kathaldazia, 8 to a late big grower from Jupiterdonia (impact of lyrics so incomprehensible that people on Discord assumed they weren't in English), 7 to Aeroche and 6 to Danæviia. Following that block of dance entries there's a few rock entries in a row, 5 points go to Taahino serving that classic Taahino sound in one of its best iterations to date and earning them their first final points from us since Paramore in BJSC 123 (justice for Dream State tho), 4 points to the anime-theme-core entry from Zanmatony and 3 to Taahino's other entry POPHub who land their first points from us since Suad in BJSC 128. In a contest so completely dominated by pop songs, we... very easily could have just not voted for any of them to be honest but did ultimately find room for 2 points for Lookylion, and that surprises us as much as anyone else after being CHIEF HATERS of '4:15', this one is a lot better though and was a big last minute grower on a final relisten. Lookylion also end a relatively long points drought with this being the first time we've voted for them since Gregory Dillon in BJSC 130. Our mealworm point goes to another pop-ish entry, the entrancing D'yermak'er.
