It was a great gesture for Ukraine to win but at the same time it's so unlucky that Sam Ryder narrowly missed out. He would have won if circumstances were better in Ukraine right now, still it's a massive improvement for UK compared to last year's nil points and even previous years of finishing low in the leader board. I was surprised at how well Spain did as the song wasn't that great. I imagine it was the performance mainly that grabbed peoples attention and the singer looked good.

Apparently the three countries got "disconnected" are Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania. At the same time, these three countries are not included in the final jury list while EBU announced six countries showed irregularities in voting which I suppose include the above three countries. Did they just rage quit after they were informed of this matter? I suspect a HUGE storm coming.

Unfortunate that Italy and Greece didn't match the songs' potential with their vocals. I watched with my professional singer friend and getting her insight was fascinating.

 

In her opinion the best singer tonight was the girl in the pajamas, and then Sam.

Seconded, Greece sounded quite flat tonight and Italy's rap part from Blanco was a bit of a disaster sadly.

Re Spain, Chanel's vox were the best they've been that I've seen tonight because she didn't try to do too much. Wrs fell prey to that in this performance of Llamame.

Chanel clearly did a lot and even more than the national final performance actually. I don't think wrs did too much in the performance. The song is probably not very memorable for a lot of people as it was quite atmospheric unlike SloMo which shows more variation.

But yeah, Ukraine were unstoppable and good for them. Do the hosting rights fall to the second placed country or a pre-determined country, assuming that Ukraine won’t be able to hold it.

 

I'm assuming it goes to the 2nd place or any of the top 5 countries that gets automatic qualification to the final. But since UK came 2nd and the first of the top 5 countries and Spain 2nd than Italy, France and Germany in that order on the scoresheet logically speaking should go to us. that's the way I see it.

Ukraine's televote consisted of 28 sets of 12 points (surely a record!) 8 sets of 10 points, 2 sets of 8 points and one 7 pointer from the out of step Serbia

Ukraine dominated in the televote in the semi too, 202 out of the 216 maximum points there, they were always going to be unstoppable.

Surreal to have come 2nd our best result since 1998!! (Where we also finished 2nd :lol: )

 

It's awesome to see us do this well after so long and Sam is possibly the most happiest person ever. Thrilled for him. Whilst I didn't love the Ukraine song it did have some good bits in there, the rapping was awful however and really let it down for me. Pleased Spain were 3rd though. That was a bop. Surprised Germany was last as I really liked it personally and France as well not doing better.
