I genuinely think Apple have a team who have their finger on the pulse (moreso) and are willing to promote a winder array of fresh music, whereas Spotify cling on to the same old tired songs for months on end and are so regimented and restrictive. It genuinely felt like the music industry had been ruined a few years ago when the charts were solely reliant on the scant few tracks being added to Hot Hits UK.

 

Which is why I'd happily see Spotify's market share diminished further in favour of Apple's, so more stuff is given a chance to break through properly.

I think this is the only explanation!

Could it be to do with Love Island? Don't Forget My Love was quite prominently played on last night's episode

 

It’s the perfect summer song so I’m still hopefully with things like Love Island it can become a much bigger charting single!

Because Apple Music doesn't (iirc) have a free ad supported option its going to be harder for Apple Music to gain market share during this cost of living crisis.

As much as I love the song personally I totally get why you'd think this (and that's much of the reason why it seems like a pretty strange and leftfield song to blow up so much). I can't immediately think of many other big chart hits that have a similar kind of 'stop-start' structure. Showtek's 'Booyah' is about the closest parallel I can think of?

 

Utah Saints vs Drumsound & Bassline Smith - 'What Can You Do For Me' back in 2012 too - went between a slow dubstep and fast drum and bass beat!
