With 13 U.K. No. 1 albums to his name, Robbie Williams knows life through a lens better than most.

The superstar British singer is about to add another chart crown, this time with XXV (via Columbia).

Williams’ 13th solo studio album leads the midweek chart by what a handy margin. According to the Official Charts Company, it’s outselling the rest of the top 10 combined, on its way to what should be Robbie’s 14th leader.

XXV celebrates the former Take That singer’s quarter-century as a solo artist, by collecting some of his most popular numbers, newly-orchestrated and recorded with the Metropole Orkest of the Netherlands.

Though Williams never scaled great commercial heights in the United States, he can fill arenas and stadiums across Europe and in Australia, and he’s a phenomenon in his homeland, He’s collected more BRIT Awards than any other artist (18), and all but one of his studio albums have topped the chart; the only album to miss the mark was 2009’s Reality Killed the Video Star, which peaked at No. 2. He’s also led the Official U.K. Singles Chart with seven titles.

Should XXV hit the summit, Williams will pull away from Elvis Presley to take outright second place on the all-time list, behind only the Beatles with 15 U.K. No. 1s.

Coming in at No. 2 on the chart blast is Ozzy Osbourne’s Patient Number 9 (Columbia). If it holds its position, Patient would give the heavy metal legend a personal best, beating the No. 3 peak for 2020’s Ordinary Man.

Also new to the midweek chart is the Amazons’ How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me (Fiction), which is set for a No. 5 bow, which would give the British rock act their third consecutive top 10.

Close behind is Brit Award-winning Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, whose trilogy of albums climaxes with Nut (Virgin), set to start at No. 6. Nut is Tunstall’s seventh studio album, four of which cracked the U.K. top 10.

The Official U.K. Albums Chart is presented late Friday.

I so in love to More Than This song and love to return the memories of our friendly experience of our shooting for Robbie's coming... One of my favourite period of own life.

When I was looking at the start of the week -he was number one in Germany and Netherlands.

I bought the album again on Itunes today so I could actually listen to it )got no CD player anymore.

First thing I noticed was how good his voice sounds on all of it. - clear, strong, gorgeous.

Highlights for me amongst the hits are Millennium (love the even stronger Bond vibe than the original), No Regrets for the same reason, Kids (didn't expect Kylie to re-record it and I love it), Eternity (basically it's the 2019 Hyde Park version with LMA choir), his stronger mature voice in Nobody Someday and Tripping . Oh and Rock DJ for its 70's vibe B-)

Of the new songs I love Home Thoughts From Abroad and More Than This.

I think Guy has done an excellent job with the new arrangements - a lot of them felt like film scores to me.

It's nice to hear some of the old songs in a fresh new way, I am really liking this album & have also downloaded it on iTunes, my cd player is on strike at the mo . must do something about it actually as I have loads of vinyls etc so I must look for something that will play both . I bought one of the bundles but it turned out quite expensive with shipping charges & then customs charges ( Brexit fall-out ) , this could have consequence for his sales numbers for physicals going forward . Rob is lucky that he has a dedicated fanbase that do like having a physical copy .

Tripping is a clear favourite for me on the album, just love that song & this version in particular.

Lots of Ads on tv for GHXXV . I see they are also really pushing the Tuesday NOV 1st date , the SAT & SUN are more or less sold out . It's a bit weird that they skipped Monday..
Do you have an idea how it will chart in other countries

I guess it will be no 2 in Germany (they have a strong local competitor) and possibly number 2 or 1 in the Netherlands. But this are guesses. Any better data supported ideas :-) ?

Id say its in with a good chance of number 1 here in Ireland.

Robbie Williams breaks Official Chart records as XXV tops the Official Albums Chart, becoming Robbie’s 14th Number 1 solo album. As the latest hits compilation from the Stoke-on-Trent superstar reaches the chart summit, the Official Charts Company can confirm that Robbie overtakes Elvis Presley (13 Number 1s), to become the solo artist with the most UK Number 1 albums ever. Astonishingly, tonight’s chart result leaves only one act now with more UK Number 1 albums than Robbie - The Beatles have managed 15 Number 1s across their career. See the full list of artists with the most Number 1 records to their names.

During his time in Take That, Robbie also racked up a further four Number 1 albums (five including Take That’s later greatest hits collection Odyssey from 2018 which spans pre and post-Robbie era). The overall record holder for an individual with the most Number 1 albums is Paul McCartney who has racked up a staggering 23 Number 1 albums across his career in The Beatles, Wings and as a solo act.

Speaking on his achievement, Robbie says: “Thank you to everyone who’s supported the album: everyone who’s bought it, streamed it, downloaded it and reviewed it. I’m so pleased that it’s gone to Number 1, and whilst it feels strange to be receiving an award during these sombre times, I wanted to thank you all for your support and dedicate this to the fans, who I never take for granted. I really appreciate it, thank you so much.”

Birmingham-born rocker Ozzy Osbourne enjoys a solo career best with Patient Number 9 this week, as the LP debuts at Number 2. His 13th solo studio album, it out-peaks his previous best with 2020 release Ordinary Man (3) and becomes his fifth Top 10 record to date. Ozzy also has ten further Top 10 albums to his name as part of Black Sabbath. Patient Number 9 proved the most popular album on wax too this week, topping the Official Vinyl Albums Chart. See Ozzy Osbourne’s full Official Charts history so far here.

Welsh rock group Manic Street Preachers see their 2001 record Know Your Enemy return to the Top 5 this week (4), thanks to a reissue offering remixed and reconstructed tracks available across two separate albums for the first time. Know Your Enemy peaked at Number 2 upon its original release.

The Amazons’ How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me becomes the Reading rock outfit’s third consecutive Top 10 album, providing them a career best as it enters at Number 5. The group previously enjoyed success with 2017 debut The Amazons (8) and 2019 release Future Dust (9). Earlier this year, How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me made Official Charts history as it became the first album containing NFT elements to be approved for chart inclusion by the Official Charts Company.

As his comeback single Forget Me debuts atop the Official Singles Chart this week, Lewis Capaldi’s debut Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent makes a return to the Top 10 (9). The record topped the chart on its release in 2019 before spending 78 consecutive weeks in the Top 10, including ten at Number 1.

Nigerian breakout star Asake’s debut album Mr. Money With The Vibe becomes his first UK Top 40 LP this week (22), while Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall makes a triumphant return with her seventh studio album NUT (25).

And finally, a remastered reissue sees Toyah’s Anthem re-enter the Top 40 (33). The record originally peaked at Number 2 upon its release in 1981.

Robbie Williams breaks chart record as Columbia scores albums hat-trick

Robbie Williams has debuted at No.1 with his latest album XXV and landed a new chart record. With his 14th chart-topping LP, Williams has now achieved more No.1 albums than any other solo artist in the UK (Elvis Presley is on 13). Only The Beatles have more No.1 albums (15). If you count his five No.1 albums with Take That (including 2018’s Odyssey which features hits from his time in the group), then Williams is on 19 chart-toppers. Paul McCartney is the frontrunner with 23 No.1 albums across his career in The Beatles, Wings and as a solo act.

Robbie Williams has also helped Columbia Records secure an albums chart hat-trick with the Top 3 positions - the only time a label has achieved that result in the 21st century. Ozzy Osbourne and Harry Styles completed the Top 3.

Columbia is top for this week’s Top 75 artist albums market share with 29.01%, and corporate group Sony Music is No.1 on Top 75 artist albums (42.82%), according to OCC data. Columbia is No.4 overall this week for all artist albums with an 8.1% share. Sony and Columbia also top pure sales album market shares.

Ferdy Unger-Hamilton, president, Columbia UK, said: “This is a testament to the three legendary artists and the great albums that they have made. Robbie and Ozzy have made fantastic returns, and I think the world knows just how good Harry’s House is by now. Great job by the Columbia team too - we are all very happy.”

Robbie Williams’ XXV debuted at No.1 with sales of 37,925 (including 36,766 physical copies), according to the Official Charts Company. It had the fifth biggest opening week of 2022 so far.

The LP celebrates 25 years of Williams as a solo artist and features multiple No.1 singles alongside fan favourites, all newly orchestrated by Jules Buckley, Guy Chambers and Steve Sidwell, and re-recorded with the Metropole Orkest in The Netherlands. XXV includes new single Lost, while the deluxe edition features three more original tracks – Disco Symphony, More Than This and The World And Her Mother.

Robbie Williams said: “Thank you to everyone who’s supported the album: everyone who’s bought it, streamed it, downloaded it and reviewed it. I’m so pleased that it’s gone to No.1, and whilst it feels strange to be receiving an award during these sombre times, I wanted to thank you all for your support and dedicate this to the fans, who I never take for granted. I really appreciate it, thank you so much.”

Williams has previously made No.1 with two regular hits collections. His only studio album to miss the summit was 2009’s Reality Killed The Video Star, which peaked at No.2 after a close battle with JLS. Robbie Williams’ biggest album is 2002’s I’ve Been Expecting You with sales to date of 2,611,523.

Fellow Columbia artist Ozzy Osbourne made No.2 with Patient Number 9 (14,124 sales) - the rock icon’s highest ever chart position as a solo artist. Osbourne’s 2020 album Ordinary Man peaked at No.3 (36,660 sales to date).

Columbia’s two new LP entries this week were followed by Harry Styles’ Harry’s House, which was down one place at No.3 (7,559). Harry’s House is the year’s biggest-selling album to date (356,352 sales).

Columbia had the biggest album of 2021 with Adele’s 30 (600,056 sales).
