I don’t think there’s anything to worry about with Drake or Doja Cat releases, although I could see Official Charts Company hyping up a “battle” because they’re all big names - even though Kylie will very likely be far ahead of them both. The perception that Kylie is battling for #1 won’t harm though!

the TENSION lol

We need to think What Promo there is to do in UK?

There is nothing on

22nd Sept she can do except The One Show, Lorraine, BBC News, This Morning etc. + Radio stuff? Magic Mike is on instead of G Norton lol

23rd Sept, only thing really is possibly Strictly Launch Show + Radio stuff

24th Sept, Sunday Brunch (unlikely)

She could have Spotify, Amazon, Apple, Tiktok promo i guess? Maybe BBC2 Concert in Park highlights may be shown that weekend from the concert on 17th?

What has happened to entertainment shows!?

Yeah the opportunity to promote on UK TV is really slim pickings, but hopefully there'll be something

Somebody on Popjustice summarised the tactics BMG used for Disco:

- Signed CDs first batch announced the Monday in the week prior to release (equivalent would be the 11th September) - more added in release week

- Deluxe 2LP vinyl announced the Monday of release week (18th Sept equivalent)

- Signed Prints with CDs at HMV/Chalkys the Monday after release (25th Sept equivalent)

- Signed Prints (different design) with Kylie Store orders announced on the same day.

- Limited Cassettes Tuesday after release (26th Sept equivalent)

- Signed LP the Wednesday after release (27th Sept equivalent)

- Deluxe 2LP Glow In The Dark vinyl announced the week after release, for preorder later that month

It does make me curious what tricks they may have up their sleeve for Tension! This time we got multiple cassettes in advance, so maybe the surprise cassette tactic won't be a thing this time around... but could they have been holding back on announcing another vinyl variant? Will Kylie go wild with signing things this time? She probably doesn't need to, but hopefully she does. Excited to find out!

Personally I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the digital albums with bonuses tactic. I forgot that there was an exclusive store digital album for Disco - but that only had 1 unreleased mix included. It wasn't the same concept as Steps/Claire Richards/Louise who gave so much extra stuff (see: this post )

I think they may have things ready if they need to use in a chart battle but could keep for another week if they don't?

So we have so far during release week/pre release week

17th Kylie BBC Concert

27th Kylie Free Gig at Shepherds Bush Empire

Anything else? Possibly Strictly , Maybe Piano Room?

Visual Kylie is often very important to push up sales to those casual TV viewer fans

I wouldn't totally count Drake out tho, his last album may have shifted 27K but was a majorly house-themed record (not his usual sound at all fyi). His last proper solo album shifted over 45K in its first week and the record itself was horrendously bad. If he comes through with a good record then he could pose quite a big threat.
Well, we know Kylie's fans have way too much spare cash so I think a chart battle would only help her sales.
We love a chart battle

Get signing those CDs Kylie Ann and stick them on Amazon

They are already signed - just a waiting game now for when they will appear.

Do you remember all those Amazon and Chalkys signed CDs lol.

And it was lockdown too and everything miserable.

That was a week!!!!!!

Good to know.

I still wonder if she may do a surprise appearance at GAY on a Saturday. Just sing like 3 songs or something

Any chance she would do personally signed items via Banquet?

Not getting number 1 would be disappointing but to be beaten by Drake would be absolutely awful.

I would say there is less than zero chance.

Honestly, way better being beaten by a current chart force like Drake than when she got beat by a dead George Michael's live album with KMO!

Strictly starts on 16th Sept not 23.

Jessie Ware is the singer for 16th.

23rd looks primed for a Kylie Tension/PP on the first week of live shows? What do we think? Or maybe if will be Ed....
