To be honest I did expect much better both in debut week and the next chart-run, but I think it just shows that I didn't really accommodate to the new chart climate, where the physical sales are non-existent outside of the debut week, and then it relies on streaming where Padam wasn't enough.

But overall I think it is going on track with DISCO on Spotify, and slightly better + Padam being her 3rd biggest streaming song ever already. And on Apple the album did amazingly well worldwide. So yeah, it didn't match my expectations, but... it still did very well, both with or without Padam?

However you choose to look at the success of tension to date, you can’t get away from the fact it has dropped much faster than anything she has released recently and sold significantly less in its current chart life. That’s not spreading false negativity, it’s based on sales and chart runs. Hopefully, things will turn around but I’m not wildly optimistic. There is no promotion lined up, no price reduction and while the audience show will give a boost, it will only be short term.

How do you know what Kylie and BMG have lined up what pricing strategies they will use?

This is the same conversation going round and round, yes it’s sold less than DISCO, yes the chart run is disappointing. But as has been said 100 times, the market is down, physical sales are dead and almost every album (outside of Taylor) is experiencing a shorter chart run.

Please release another single so we can move away from this boring conversation.

Also not that it's super relevant - but we have the possibility of a pretty successful tour if they really go for it this era. Which is something we haven't had in a while! There are diff. metrics to measure an era's 'success', and I think if they capitalise on the touring boom happening generally atm as well as the clear hunger for shows from her - we could have a pretty healthy run

Physical copies at shows could also help with the residual sales.

A few people on here are obsessed with the era finishing because the album has dropped down the charts lol. Rushing out single 3 is not going to suddenly sell 5000 more CDs.

BMG will have a campaign for however long they have planned for and the album will have good and bad weeks, usually based on TV appearances & promo.

The singles will have success if the fans get behind it like they did with Padam Padam and Tension

She has been on Radio playlists since May non stop, give a chance for breaks. You are making out that Disco and Golden have sold millions, they haven't.

Tuesday Midweek update (UK)

65 (36) Tension

Sales: 1,071 (-37%)

Yesterday: 239 (no.83)

CD: 476

Digital: 72

Streams: 385 (no. 164)

LP: 132

476 x £13 (average CD) = £6188

132 x £24 (vinyl) = £3168

72 x £12 (digital) = £864

Total Revenue £10,000+

I mean it all adds up for BMG

If you say 57,000 copies have been sold at £17 average for instance then thats £969,000 already made in revenue for Tension in UK

Hopefully it will stay top 75.

This - I knew it was in for a tumble this week but didn’t think there could be a possibility of it missing the Top 75, hopefully it’s done enough to hold on.

It may overtake a few albums and then fall behind some other stressing albums. I think it maybe nearer the top 100 mark rather than 75
From Ryan @ SH

I bet SH is having a meltdown lol

20? probably 2 or 3 lol

Amazon current best sellers 37,41,90 so it climbed a few places, maybe another 10 sales in total lol

Thats a huge drop although id think as little as 20 sales could result in it climbing 100 places.

Yes, it’s certainly not many sales - I always look at digital album sales each week for albums that have been riding high on iTunes and they are literally next to nothing.

Padam Padam Jax Jones Remix daily worldwide Spotify Streams are higher than 2 Tension album tracks and nearly larger than 6 of them!! Shows the album tracks are limping along

MTV EMAs cancelled due to world events

Also just looking at Tension era thread on UKmix. Are there lots of trolls, the negativity over there!?

Edited by SmileyKylie

The trolls will always be there and find something to be negative about so i never take any heed, Kylie at this stage of her career has nothing to prove to anyone.
She has nothing to prove, and she will sell out tours and generate alot of money. That is where the money is these days for labels. Kylie will be fine
