I don't think that any of the plans he has will fully depend on Rob's money he has quite a lot of influential rich partners since some years. In one interview he spoke about his billionaire friends. His network has become quite interesting.

One of those friend's is Peter Jones ( Dragon's Den who bought 50% of Farrell Clothing when Rob got rid of it ) . PJ is worth 1.2 billion .

I asked Matt if he had a chance to ask Guy why he is not on tour.

Matt just answered me:

"Alex, yes we chatted with him afterwards - he helped developed the XXV show for the tour, but he decided not to be in the tour as he has lots of other projects he is working on. (We also saw him at the O2 on Monday night - he was watching from the mixing desk in the middle of the arena). All is well - he is just a very busy musical genius!"

So we were right with you. Thanks God!

Thanks for sharing Alex, that is so good to know . I had a feeling he was doing other things. Matt & Lucy were so lucky to get chatting to Guy, how cool is that .

Just looked at the Birmingham setlist, and he's taken out Lost and added Candy in its place. Shame to have none of the new songs performed at all, but the crowd did fall flat only for that one song at the O2 so I can see why he wants to keep the energy up. I wonder if it might have worked better in a medley with a hit instead.

Yes agree - Lost fell flat at the O2 too.

Candy got a big cheer when he sang a snippitat the end so makes sense to include it. :)

Robbie bangs Birmingham! - really nice review .

Robbie Williams XXV Tour: Resorts World, Birmingham, Sunday 17th October 2022.

Robbie Williams erupted over the packed arena like a 21-gun salute of Moët champagne corks with “Hey Wow Yeah Yeah” before delivering the money-shot number “Let Me Entertain You.” Had this been a lover, I would simply have pulled the covers up and lit a cigarette as I sought to recover for round two – but this was Robbie Williams at his erotic best – vitality, velocity, vulgarity, and vulnerability. Sure, he has an ego – who else could pull off the super-sonic showman style in a glitter ball suit that the boy done good from Stoke-on-Trent wears with a nonchalant swagger !

But this homage to his life, career, drugs, sex, and scandal, was more about the intimacy he openly shares with his adoring fans who span a vast age spectrum. His obvious and unyielding emotional connection throbbed throughout the throng as he described what it is to be human – at times with bluster, but often with the bewilderment best crystallized within the words of his epic autobiographical wonder “Strong.”

Hearing Robbie’s world view, one is reminded of the sage words contained within Monty Python’s film ‘Life of Brian’ – “He’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy!” And upon listening to the classic “Rock DJ” the line ‘I’ve got the gift, gonna stick it in the goal’ spoke directly to me as one who also enjoys tucking my gift in between the posts; but his humour should not obscure his deft ability to explore the yin and yang of life and the contradictions with which we all struggle. “Come Undone” smashes this paradigm and savours the saint and sinner within all of us. On a personal note, I love the guy as he uses the word ‘f***’ quite a lot – probably my all-time favourite term.

Whilst writing this review I found myself compelled to reconsider my own headline since another plausible evaluation of this blockbuster could easily be ‘Robbie bears all in Birmingham.’ His soul was up for scrutiny, and he was prepared to explicitly share his scars and salvation. His testament to his good friend Gerri Halliwell, who helped him through his nervous breakdown – “Eternity” – moved the audience to sit, whilst his now brilliant life was captured by the ballad “Love my life.”

And how does the man every woman wants to sleep with, and every man wants to call his mate, end this extravaganza? There is only one word: “Angels.”

Robbie Williams is a paradox wrapped up in an enigma, and an entertainer par excellence.

Make sure you get a fix sometime!

"I'm f*** all without you... if you keep turning up, then I will": Robbie Williams at AO Arena Manchester, reviewed

"I asked you at Knebworth to grow old with me and you are doing"

"I'm Robbie f****n Williams" he tells Manchester as he takes to the stage for the first of three nights at the AO Arena. The man needs no introduction. Judging by the average age of most of us concert goers, we've all witnessed the ups and downs of the lad from Stoke-on-Trent who hit the bigtime with boyband Take That. It's a career spanning more than three decades he tells us, as he promises to take us on a journey of his '32 year musical odyssey'.

Kicking off the show with one of his lesser known tracks Hey Wow Yeah Yeah, it's not the best choice to get the crowd going, but there's still a buzz about his arrival in the city where he first found fame at the tender age of 16.

The big hits are next up though - Let Me Entertain You firing us up for what promises to be a 'celebration of Robbie’s 25 years as a solo artist'. Things have certainly changed during that time and many of us, myself included, have followed him every step of the way. From his 'highest of highs to the lowest of lows' he talks openly about the battles he's faced with drink and drugs. He jokes about much of it - the time he went on a wild one at Glastonbury with the Gallagher brothers among his favourite anecdotes - but we all know he's been to some dark places. Now 22 years sober and married with four children, he's in a much better place and when he belts out Oasis' Don't Look Back in Anger you can tell he means every word. He has nothing but love for his 'four brothers' from Take That - Mark, Gary, Howard and Jason - and tells us that one day they 'will ride again'. Let's hope so.

But this tour, on the back of his new album XXV, shows that Robbie's solo career is as successful now as it ever was. When you can still pack out an arena with 20,000 plus fans singing every word of songs from the late nineties, early noughties - like Strong, Come Undone and Feel - you know you're doing something right.

"I asked you at Knebworth to grow old with me and you are doing," he says, referring to his 2003 concert at Knebworth Park when he performed to a staggering 375,000 people, and he seems genuinely thankful for the following he's had over the years. But that's the thing with Robbie, he is a true performer and when he's up there on stage he gives it his all. He might be a bit slower than in his boyband years - declaring 'I'm f*****' just three songs in as he wipes his head with a towel he struggles to part with - but he is 48.

He looks good on it though and there aren't many men approaching the age of 50 who could pull off his outfit choice of golden top and trousers combo.

With women throwing bras on the stage and one getting him to sign her breast with a marker pen - presumably which she'll now get tattooed - I think it would be fair to say the Robster's still got it.

We may drool over him, but hearing him dedicate Love My Life to his wife and kids, most of his fans are just pleased that he finally seems to be in a happy place - and humble with it.

Thanking us all, he says he would be 'f**k all' without us. "If you keep turning up then I will," he says.

I just hope he keeps that promise.

I do not agree with what the reporter about using a less familiar songs as part of the opener to the show, I think it works brilliantly with LMEY , this thing that reporters have that show formats have to be the same all the time does my head in , I love something new & really feel that one of the songs should have been dropped from the setlist & snippets of some less known songs added in , it helps people get familiar with his other material.

I do not go to gigs that often but when I do go I really appreciate what I am hearing & savour every moment until the next time

Here is the Opener from the O2 gig , I think it's great - thanks to Robbie Williams Rewind for the video - Robbie Williams - Show opening - Hey Wow Yeah Yeah & Let Me Entertain You (The O2 10/10/22)

It worked brilliantly as an opener -really exciting and it was great to hear it after so long

So Lost was back on the set list in Manchester?

I have not seen Robbie yet and it will be next year until I will for this tour, so I cannot judge. But reading all the glowing reviews where you see that even those who usually critisize him relentless want to give 5 stars instead of 4, I wonder if

- he is so good (again)

- if people start to get tired of the adapted popstars instead of the unique ones

or if this is a deal with the press as they know next year - if all will go well - will be huge for Robbie and the money Netflix etc want to make and therefore they build up to this. When you see the way news are released it is quite clear that all of this is planned like the pink suit for T-Mobile (magenta) similar to the suit in Berlin 2005 with the pink applications.

What do you think?

and Alex? I heard the Days yesterday which has 350 million views as lyric video and is so underrated. Can we have a thread about that song? I still love it (But I also loved Avicii)

I am sure at times there are trade-off's with the press Elisabeth but I am more inclined to take it at face value. Rob newbies team seem to be working a bit harder with the PR , I am 100% sure it's not Robbie himself posting stuff on Instagram etc .

Not sure what you mean by 'adapted' popstars

You have to admit he is on top form at the minute both physically & mentally & that shows on stage

Delighted LOST is back on the setlist, he needs to promote these new songs . I guess he sees how they go the first night at each venue & take it from there

Lost was not back on the setlist in Manchester, he performed Candy again instead!

It was a good show though, lots of his big hits which went down very well with the crowd, as you can tell from that video of the acapella medley at the end!
