August 15, 20222 yr No he wouldn't. There's a reason why Fergie kept assembling different squads during his time as manager instead of relying on the same players all the time and not selling or releasing anyone until they retired from football. He def would have imo, he won it with worse squads. Question is how many players in the past ten years have got you excited that United have purchased? Strangely enough I do think they will improve with ETH as the season goes on even with the current squad as it takes time. He might even have to sell DDG as he isn’t good at the job he the manager wants him to do.

To be honest it's only Ronaldo in the past ten years that got me excited but I should have realised that to see the level of how prolific he was at Real Madrid & Juventus he would have needed better more productive teammates around him, still he did well to score the amount of goals that he did last season. I think we will improve with Ten Hag as well eventually if he gets enough time but it might not necessarily be this season. I would give him at least 2-3 years to properly put his mark on the team and try to get all the players he wants and sell the players who hold us back but that is not likely to happen.

It is like when we had Mignolet, he will do an OK job, but he is left so exposed playing as a sweeper and will cost many points. If any United fans tells me they were not excited by Schweinstager, Sanchez, Ronaldo, Pogba, Sancho, Di Maria, Varane, Lukaku, Mhykitarian, Depay and Falcao.. they're lying!!! Nunez :cheer: Daft thing to do, but he's so raw still. Can see why Klopp wanted to ease him in. Will be a beast, but he was trying too hard today and the occassion got to him.
August 15, 20222 yr Yeh must be something about them Uruguayans lol, in the blood! And as you say Rooney the players you listed United have purchased were why I asked the leading question about players they have purchased. Symbolises why it’s stupid to say the players aren’t good enough. They were when signed but United is like a grave yard now! Edited August 15, 20222 yr by Steve201
August 16, 20222 yr Yeh I was watching it and it’s true, some of them I had forgotten they purchased too!
August 16, 20222 yr Some of those ratings are daft. Herrera was definitely a qualified success. Fellaini, Mata, Lindelof and Blind may not all have been amazing and they kept Mata for too long but they were all decent signings who did their jobs well. Dan James did ok and had a couple of excellent spells, and they doubled their money on him - most clubs would consider that to be a success! Edited August 16, 20222 yr by RabbitFurCoat

Only Sanchez, Ronaldo & Lukaku from that list for me as they were the only ones with proven PL success. Everyone else was a 50/50 gamble with no guarantee they'd suit the league. And that Sky Sports RAG table was eye-raising to say the least. You can tell the English media protects Shaw & Maguire at all costs.
August 20, 20222 yr Author Gerrard and Lampard slugging it out to be first sacking of the new season.
August 20, 20222 yr Brentford are still living off last week's result it seems! Mitrovic getting me some fantasy points.
August 20, 20222 yr Gerrard and Lampard slugging it out to be first sacking of the new season. At this rate it'll be Rodgers gone first!
August 20, 20222 yr Author Ralph has learned how to change the game from the bench, genuinely shocked by this.
August 20, 20222 yr Author Wilfried Zaha hitting some real form. 3 goals this season, and the last two seasons his best tallies in the EPL Crystal Palace look like a real organised unit under Patrick Vieira, and Zaha especially enjoying himself this season.
August 21, 20222 yr Leicester are really missing Kasper Schmeichel, his departure couldn't have come at a worse time and they probably wont be able to get a replacement in before the transfer deadline. At least for their sake it doesn't look like James Maddison will leave in this transfer window but it doesn't look good for their hopes of keeping Wesley Fofana.
August 21, 20222 yr Would be pretty harsh considering the lack of funds they’ve afforded him! Their improvement over the years has come from making big sales which allow for greater spending and continued increases in the wage bill. This is the second consecutive summer without a significant sale, and he spent £50m on 4 players last summer, only one of which even made the bench yesterday. They have been abysmal for a long time
